hi everyone, new dieter thread here. just went back to weightwatchers for the third time(!!) and am now determined to lose the weight. I have just turned 30, up to age 20 I was slim and for the last decade i have been overweight and am sick of it. I am 5'6" and 12st 4lb and have set an initial target of a stone over the coming months including Christmas

If anyone wants to join in please do, especially if you have just started dieting and not want to put on weight over christmas.

    Best of luck everyone :)

    Hi Corriefan,

You might like to set up a food diary in this section..lots of support etc from other dieters. Theres plenty of people doing weight watchers in there so they would be good for moral support! :)
    best of luck!

Hi OP, you'd be better off in the Food Diary section to keep a track of what you eat.

Since WW has failed you twice already, maybe you should try a different approach to weight loss.

Having lead a very active life in my late teens and early to mid 20's of running, extreme rock climbing (including big wall climbing in USA), serious hiking and camping all over the world I was pretty upset at 33 to find myself out of breath and dizzy having jogged 50 yards to catch a LUAS one day.

This was the catalyst to change my life back towards a fit individual who didn't groan about back pain, feeling tired and couldn't do anything physical. (and was growing out of all his clothes!)

Day 1 - started reading everything I could about nutrition and health. If your going to pick one entity like WW it's like deciding that your only going to wear green for the rest of life. Thats a tough challenge. Also, they ain't that well up on long term health and lifestyle. trust me.

got bike and started to exercise as I realised that the nutrition bit was going to take a while.

Realised that I was going to have to change my LIFE for LIFE if I wanted to reach a ripe old age not attached to some machine wheezing. That mean eating good healthy nutritous food every day all day with the occasional weekly indulgence when I please and being consistent in both that and regular exercise to strengthen and improve my body. Excellant cardio so I never get out of breath, resistance training so my muscles are strong and my bost firm. Back strong and posture straight.

exercise is tough but the human body needs it and demands it
eating well can be difficult but if your determined you will realise that it's everyone else who is wrong and your in the right. As you watch friends who were once fit and strong look fat, weak and ill all the time you'll begin to realise what I mean.

The only person I strive to improve is myself for myself and no one else.
