It's been confirmed that Mean Gene Okerlund will be handling interviews on next week's three-hour Old School RAW from Hershey, Pennsylvania. Legends confirmed include Sgt. Slaughter, Dusty Rhodes, Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka, The Iron Sheik, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Nikolai Volkoff, Tatanka.

WWE will be going out all next week with retro graphics, a retro set design, music and appearances by other Legends.

While we haven't heard anything about Shawn Michaels appearing, it should be noted that Michaels and his former Rockers tag team partner Marty Jannetty were featured in the teaser video for next week's show.
Hearing the list of old wrestlers it's much more 80s WWF than 90s RAW...

They should have : Tatanka, 123 Kid, Hall, Papa Shango (~), Doink, JR calling the action, Repo man, Martel, Sparky Plugg holly, Janetty. Goldust in oldschool attire.

maybe Dusty & MDM vs Legacy; or Dusty/Cody vs MDM/Teddy so the lads can carry the match.

IRS and his kid & hennig vs Rikishi and his kids. Have Hennig's son dress up as Perfect.

A Bret hart appearance would be great too. I'd LOVE Taker in old-school zombie attire :pac:

Looking forward to RAW? Anyone you'd like to see?

Unless i see vince in one of these:
    mcmahon2_banana.JPG

    It ain't old school.

Im predicting a big happy "everyone in the ring" celebration at the end of raw and a customary nexus run in and destroys everyone around them.

Then a save from Cena, followed by the rest of the faces.

Also i would be expecting a LOT of videos of current superstars talking about their favorite old schooler to take up about half the show.

i predict it could be one of the worst raw's ever, nobody of interest from the old days on it, we've seen slaughter, i.r.s, piper, superfly, rhodes, tatanka and di biase on wwe tv in the last year or two, unless vince surprises us with hall and nash as razor and diesel or even the new age outlaws, ( both wont happen) this could be a fast forward job on the sky+ tomorrow.

Yep, think this could be brutal too.

All the usual old guys that show up like IRS and Sheik and DiBiase. Like WWF back in the old days, this will be ****e.

What kind of old school Raw is this? Shouldn't they invite people who were around during the days of Raw in the mid 90's onwards?? Most of these guys were gone before the first episode of Raw is War!!

im guessing, well.. hoping.. that there are a few surprises from the attitude era that they havent advertised.

I like the idea of an old school titantron.
Hope to see the big RAW set up beside the entrance.
    Or even a MASSIVE screen.

Justin Credible (a/k/a P.J. Polaco) told Dot Net that he was invited to the show, but will not be appearing.

That they invited Credible may indicate that they might be bringing more than the usual WWE legends. If it's like the Raw 15th Anniversary show it should be fun. Though I would question doing it as a go-home show.

Tonight's Old School themed Monday Night RAW will kick off at 8pm EST from the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Several WWE Legends are confirmed for the show including Sgt. Slaughter, Ted DiBiase, IRS, Mae Young, Nikolai Volkoff, Dusty Rhodes, Jimmy Snuka, Roddy Piper, The Iron Sheik, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Mean Gene Okerlund.

Several WWE SmackDown Superstars are also scheduled for tonight's show. Advertised locally is a WWE Title match with John Cena vs. Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton.

Yea true who knows what will happen tonight just hope its not aload of ****e like most people saying it will be

    just read this
Expect WWE to push Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new film "Faster" in the coming weeks. In terms of tonight's RAW, WWE is apparently trying to sort out a video promo from The Rock, but that isn't confirmed.

They better not forget that Survivor Series is on Sunday and promoting that PPV which has only 3 matches should be the biggest priority of the show, not getting cheap pops by bringing out some old blokes.

I was thinking about that, but pretty much all PPV buys are bought within the week leading up, and are based on the top 2-3 matches pushed (i.e. the undercard doesn't matter). So although it's bad business/hyping practise to only book the main events, it doesn't matter too much in terms of the majority buys. It just looks haphazard which might put people on the fence off.

Again WWE are pulling a "Bragging Rights" by not having the reason of the PPV announced (i.e. there's no Survivor Series match made). I gotta think that leads to the audience being nonplussed about buying this PPV. Imagine if at Money in the Bank PPV, they didn't name any MITB matches a week before the PPV!

It does lead to a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy though. If you treat the undercard badly then people won't care about the undercard wrestlers which leads to more poor treatment of the undercard. So in practice the undercard of a show should never be ignored.

Didn't PW Insider say a few weeks back that there's a big chance that there'll be no elimination match this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Agreed, WWE don't need to focus on the midcard (as the main stories is what sells PPVs and brings in the viewers) but they can't neglect the mid-card, as some of them will need to be elevated for the next bunch of main-eventers. Everything should be given time to make a great show but the focus should always be on the main event.

If everything is given equal focus I reckon you get TNA, where there is no heirarchy of wrestlers, just a bunch of mid-carders where everyone beats everyone. I reckon TNA do it to give you ~5 storylines, instead of WWE's 1, but instead of it giving you 5 reasons to buy a PPV, the direction of the company is unfocused and ends up detracting.

No Elimination match?! I didn't hear that! If that's the case then the Survivor Series is truly dead.

According to Pwinsider.com, it is possible that there will not be any Survivor Series style matches at this year's Survivor Series PPV. A source in the company reportedly stated that the chance of there being any Survivor Series style matches is only at about 20%.

God, I don't like the sounds of there not being an actual Survivor Series Match. There will prob be one thrwon together tonight as well as on Smackdown.

I reckon the whole Sheamus / Morrison / Santino thing could end up as an elimination match. It could be:
Santino, Koslov, Morrisson, Goldust & R-Truth Vs. Sheamus, Ted DiBiase, The Miz, Alex Riley & Zack Ryder maybe (why not, lol).

I can also see there being some sort of Elimination match involving The Nexus - Probably Raw & Smackdown vs. Nexus or something

Cool pics, actually staying up to watch this one tonight. I hope the ratings are good so they'll do it again.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Are they meant to be doing the King of the Ring tournament tonite.I could of imagined that though, they should maybe add it to survivor series if you could accept a gimmick ppv on top of a gimmick ppv.The last few 3 Hour raw were the ****s hope this is better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,608 ✭✭✭irish_stevo815

May as well stay up now to check it out. Looks cool with all the old WWF Logos.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,600 ✭✭✭✭CMpunked

The KOTR raw is in 3 weeks... i think...

I think this will be a ratings winner.
Im saying it will do a 4. its been heavily advertised in the states and i would think a lot of people would like to see what the wrestlers they used to love as a kid are up to now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,608 ✭✭✭irish_stevo815

I was just thinking about it, and i wonder could we see the return of Kevin Nash tonight? I mean, he was around in the Mid 90's and all these rumours about him wanting to comeback in the Royal Rumble. Imagine this, a few of the old-timers are in the ring posing or part of a Battle Royal or whatever when the Nexus run in and take them out only to have Nash appear and take out the Nexus ???

Slim chance, but it would be cool!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,099 ✭✭✭Dean820

It won't get a 4, it'll get about a 3.5 depending on how well the first hour does.

It starts at 1 tonight, don't forget everyone. :)

Have the Wildlife Fund dropped their lawsuit against WWE using the WWF logo?

Very odd that a logo they blur out on all old footage will be used on a live broadcast.

What time does this start at?

As long as they dont refer to themselves as "the WWF" then i think they're ok.

Yeah and it was only the Attitude WWF logo they could not use: [Embedded Image Removed]

They have still the right to use the old blocky WWF logo as it was around before the whole wildlife thing

Have the Wildlife Fund dropped their lawsuit against WWE using the WWF logo? Very odd that a logo they blur out on all old footage will be used on a live broadcast.

For the record, the terms of the World Wildlife Fund lawsuit are as follows :

WWE can say "World Wrestling Federation"
WWE can freely show the WWF block logo from the Hulkamania & New Generation Eras.
WWE can't actively say WWF or use the WWF scratch logo from May 2002 onwards, on TV or showing old footage.

However, WWE CAN use WWF/the Scratch logo outside America. The lazy-asses just import the "Region 1" blur/edited editions. Technically we could get unedited versions of DVDs but WWE don't do it.

This also accounts why WWE can released unedited versions of old PPVs (i.e. the same as their VHS counterparts) in Silvervision, which don't release their DVDs in America, but do in Europe and Canada etc.

Another example of this is if you read Eric Bischoff's book, he always says "World Wrestling Federation" and not "WWF", as it's published by WWE.

ps tonight's RAW starts at 1am.
