    ok well just need some help here, im very stressed at work i dont know what to do. i work in a wholesale warehouse on the floor packing away etc..
    i want to leave but i know if i do i'd be joining the dole queue, im there 6 years and i have no qualifications or previous work experience.
    they let a few guys go lately with redundancy so there is less staff on the floor, im put with more responsibility's. there is no two ways about it nothing can be done. i cant avoid. im glad to have a job i appreciate being still employed but im just so stressed to the point i come home some evenings almost in tears. sometimes my heart beats quite fast in work and i get quite angry and feel like breaking something or driving my fist into something. i have to stop and breath deeply to calm down, my heart just goes 90 and i feel light headed. is this normal for stress or what? somethig stupid can trigger it. im a calm very quiet person outside work. i struggle daily to avoid slipping into a depression yet again as im always feeling sad.
    is there something i can take to calm the nerves!!

    Why do you get stressed/angry at your job? Does it matter what happens there? Why aren't you able to just go in, do your job as well as you can, come home, and let it go?

    yeah i try to let it go just go in do my job come home and let it be. i leave work at work, believe me 6pm is the best part of the day. i think part of it too is that like what you touched on there TimeToShine is other people seem to slack off a bit and they get away with it. well i appreciate all the reply's from everyone!

    Sorry for your troubles OP!

    It sounds like a tough situation you're in - it's an employers' market at the minute and employees are afraid to complain as they feel they should be grateful for being employed at all... even if they're doing more than their share of work.

    From what you've described, you're having panic attacks. Sometimes, triggers are easily identified and sometimes not, but the fact that you only have the events in work means that it's probably not a medical disorder. A person who is prone, for whatever reason, to have these episodes when exposed to a stressful stimulus or situation and can have a wide range of physical symptoms such as those you've described: palpitations, sweating, trembling, chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea etc with or without psychological symptoms like anxiety, dread or fear.

    2/3 of people with panic disorder (which many-most people do experience at some point in their lives) have some degree of associated depression (which everybody seems to have at the moment, understandably).

    Things you can do yourself: cut down on alcohol if that's relevant. The dizziness people experience with attacks is usually related to hyperventilation (breathing really quickly). When you can feel an episode coming on, make a conscious effort to take slow, deep breaths and sit down. Couting in your head or doing some other simple excercise to distract yourself can be helpful. Make sure that you relax in your spare time and during your lunchbreak if you can.

    Hope things improve at work for you soon. It's worth taking a trip to your GP for a chat and some advice.

    My advice would be while you are at work concentrate on one job at a time. If someone asks you to do something tell them you will do it when you finish your current task. Stick at this and people will soon get the picture!

    Always take your breaks. Never EVER skip them and make sure you take the full time. If someone comes in on your break to ask you something, just say come find me when my break is over :)

    I know what your are going through, I was in a job that very nearly broke me, they let me go in the end but I was so happy walking out that door the last day.

    Sorry to hear about your workplace issues.

    As previously posted, exercise is good - gym, swimming, running etc. Any distraction you can get involved in outside work would be very helpful. Spend time with family and friends. If you're into music, that might help too.

    Consider attending a good GP or counsellor. A GP can give you time off work if he/she thinks it's necessary and they deal with workplace issues all the time. It's good to have some support outside the workplace.

    This is a time to take great care of yourself - sleep, food, recreation, health. There's absolutely no shame in being stressed in work - lots of people experience it. It's nearly always more of a reflection on the employer than the employee. However, it does need to be managed. Hope things improve for you.

    i eat and sleep well its nota problem, i don't do much at the weekends but i will try get out more and find some hobby or something to distract from work.
    i dont really see what a doctor can do for me but if things dont improve i will probably go to one. thanks to everyone who replied and gave me advice, its very much appreciated. ill take all the advice on board
