    I grew a few rows of purple spuds this summer, just so you're not disappointed the colour doesn't survive cooking, they actually look awful cooked. Taste is grand though, nothing exciting.

    Gimmick Potato to be honest. They use to be common enough 80 years ago in certain parts of Ireland but white potato varieties replaced them.
