What kind of music do you like?

Er, ColmDawson's question is a bit vital here. How would we give recommendations otherwise? Having said that, I'll bite :p

Why not learn Viola? Never enough Viola players.

Or take up synthesis. Playing synthesisers will teach you more about how sound works than any other instrument.

Or if you want to learn about how music works, learn a keyboard instrument (this can also cross over with synthesisers, though the focus is very different).

Well I pretty much like any music :P Saying that I've been listening to an awful lot of classical lately :/ I used to play keyboads a small bit when I was 8ish aswell...but not a lot at all

I'd be leaning more towards viola on the whole size issue compared to a synthesiser so.......could you advise me on where to get a good one that won't just fall apart? :P

Er, I can't really, I don't play any string instruments. I've wanted a viola for a while though, I'm waiting to see if the excitement over the idea of playing it dies down in a few months before buying :p

Synthesisers come in all sorts of sizes though. You can get one the size of a big room or you can get one that fits in your backpack. Got a laptop? Or any sort of computer? They're synthesisers too :p I use software for most of my synthesiser needs, a lot of great stuff can be got with little equipment.
