Well which chippers do you think are the best?
    What do you order ?
I think that limerick has the best selection of chippers , my favorite there being donkey fords.

Theres a decent one in galway across from the roisin dubh

Usually the big names disappoint , burdocks is awful for the reputation it has , but the chipper in howth near the train station is brilliant (its a chain store which i forget the name of) .

Theres also a very nice one in banagher , co offaly which i think is Italian owned. A lot of the chippers are become standardized and the standard is going down

    I love MacDonalds chips.

But for homemade chips there's a fantastic chipper in Dingle, Co. Kerry that is amazing. I can't think of the name but it's near the SuperValu entrance & across from a small car park.

I'm sure nobody here will know of them, but in Glanmire I like Denny's. That Chinese place next to the library is good as well, those are the only two places I go anymore.

Their chips make heart disease and atherosclerosis seem not so bad.... (not trying to make light of it, just throwing it down there).

Origonal Borza takeaway in walkinstown and at the back of the ashleaf shopping centre do really good quality food and also try the mars bar in batter ;)

In Leixlip, Co. Kildare, there's a good one called The Hill takeaway.

In Maynooth, Co. Kildare, Maximums does great chips.

In Lucan, Co. Dublin, Romas are great. Romas in Celbridge, Co. Kildare is also great.

In Galway city centre, the chipper nearest to Jury's - have no idea of the name, but it's the chipper that has a very late opening on a Saturday :S

In Castleisland, Kerry, the chipper on the road heading towards Scartaglen.

Although "pub grub", Katy Daly's in Belfast city centre does great food.

There used to be a four lights in castlebar, did the best curry chips and chicken fillet burger ever. Anytime I'm in Sligo I have to go in for a curry chips for old times sake. Even though it's shíte compared to what it was like in c'bar

Caffollas in Castlebar are pretty good, a Big C and two battered sausages used to be my lunch :)

My favourite chipper use to be Marcellas in Dunlaoghaire until they changed hands recently and went down the toilet with dishing out pre frozen chips and smaller portions. Its now back to Borza in Dalkey.

Hillbilly's in Fairview. I used to go there when I worked at the Xtravision. Lovely chicken and their mashed potatoes with country gravy was addictive.

Oh by gumbo, now your talkin. I regularly head into the grand parade Hillbillies for a breast n a bun BLT no tomatoe, snack box & gravy. Savage dinner.

I challenge anyone to speak of a better breast in a bun burger.

Can't believe all the love for Borzas in Dalkey. 10 years ago maybe but it's one of the worst chippers around now imo. **** food and ignorant staff.

I used to eat in Burdocks years ago and it tastes a lot different now. The reason is that they used to use peanut oil originally, and now they just use vegetable oil. I don't know why they changed, but their Cod and Chips is so ordinary now it's not worth the trip.

I never ate there when I was drunk so I know I was having a tasty lunch, and not some drunk food. Also the queues used to be around the block years ago.

Everyone thinks their own local chipper is the greatest on the planet, and Nationwide need to send the cameras down there to see how they manage to fry fish and chips in hot oil differently than any other place.

Based on that, my favourite chipper is San Marino in Windy Arbour in Dublin.

Enniscorthy is the take away capital-for huge portions of homemade chips head to the Copper Pan on Duffry Hill. For giant sea fresh cod try Toni's on Rafter Street. The best fresh made kebabs around are to be found in Denis Kebab beside the Post Office, loads more around the town so you can eat yourself into oblivion.
