And what's your contribution to the running of this fine country of ours Leonard.

I'd say it's a fair bet that a lot of these protesters are net beneficiaries of the State.

Much more important news is that the HSE budget for this year is nearly on target.

Maybe Harney can get a few plaudits for plugging the black hole, and bringing these overpaid HSE people to their senses.

You're right, it's wonderful it only took her 5 years to do something. Well done.

What is it with people throwing foodstuffs lately? Anyway, those involved should count themselves lucky that they're in a position to be able to waste food on such pointless acts. The poor unfortunate sods should fcuk off to a place where people really are suffering and struggling to survive

But that's just silly. People aren't being forced to avail of the scheme, and I'm sure that there are in fact people who will be grateful to receive the assistance regardless of it only consisting of cheese.

Tis, do they not realise that it's our car, the tax payers, that they are throwing things at. If any repairs are needed it doesn't come from the ministers pockets.

Im not Harneys biggest fan but I do admire her for sticking to her guns and continuing to do what is a very difficult Job.health ministry is poisoned chalice as far as Im concerned and its a job i wouldnt do for all the money in the world.that said she is responsible for the inception of the HSE but I dont think even she could have imagined how difficult it was going to be to fight the machine she effectively inherited.unfortunately the years that all that extra money was pumped into the health service it was effectively swallowed by the policy making pencil pushers who so effectively feathered their own nests and will now get the ultimate payoff with redundancy on the table for them....

I'm sure there are. I'm sure there are a lot of people who resent being patronised by a government denying them their electoral rights, cutting off services, and then offering them cheese.

I wouldn't do it myself, but if the protest consisted of a few easisingles, then I amn't sure that's an excessive punishment for ****ing this country into a cocked hat.

I know things are worse elsewhere, but hey, I'm here now.

She deserves a pension rise. Oh, they voted themselves a pension rise on the same day as the cheese announcement. Grate.

I'd do it for 75% of what she's getting.

On the second bolded bit, what the **** is she if not a policy making pencil pusher. She doesn't DO anything apart from make policy. But it's not her fault.

I fully support people's right to protest. It's not as if she was put in any physical danger (thankfully), which is more than can be said for those availing of the services for which she has been responsible for the last number of years.

Remember folks, this is the person who presided over the bloated excuse for a health service we have today, who has questionable links to other state bodies, who showed and shows scant regard for efficient use of resources in her own suckling at the expenses teat, who time and time again appeared in the media spouting nonsensical jargon at length while saying nothing at all, interspersed with period of invisibility, who succesfully managed to pass the buck of responsibility to the HSE while still employing the same number of staff in her own department, who managed to kill off her own party while barely scraping in at the last election.

I think a couple of eggs hitting her car shows remarkable restraint, or apathy.

She's a fortunate woman, in that she doesn't live among a more volatile electorate.

Look what happened when they did the same in the UK in 2009

Fair enough, but it's actually an EU initiative, not a FF one.. and it's being happening for 20 odd years now. I agree with what you say about it not being an excessive 'punishment', but I fail to see how it's going to improve anything either.

It's been going on for 20 years, and FF wheeled it out as if it was new because that's the only bit of good news they felt they had in the tank. It feels like being robbed of 20 quid and then the robber gives you some cheese which you owned anyway.

It''s emblematic of their duplicitous conniving underhanded, dishonest, repellent Fianna Fail-ness. It stinks of who they are and what they are as a party.
