Just shot a 297 ex 300. Ye may be in trouble if I make it to this! Three called nines as well. Just have to start the match in time to finish it now.

Just booked in for the one o'clock detail. I reckon I'll be wearing the thermals that day! Might shoot in full kit for the warmth alone! That 297 shortly became a 394, with a filthy great 8 on the last shot. >.< Reminiscent of last week's match in that respect! Not good, but getting there.

I'm on the one o'clock too. Hopefully we can bring along a good bunch of DURC shooters again. :)

I reckon that'll be easy. Newbies seemed to have a good time. Coaching one of them tomorrow again, so I reckon we'll get them back down there.

Haven't heard yet, but the DoJ would have only got the request to re-issue them last on Monday, so I wouldn't expect much until next week at the earliest.

Top four going into the final are

    592
    591
    590
    590

This looks like it was an incredible shoot. Standards are screaming up. I'm gutted to be missing it. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 516 ✭✭✭FLOYDSTER

Great results today!!, well done Conor with a PB , a 592 and with a new rifle!!;)

As Dave has said, 4 scores of 590 or above in the final!!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

It's a good day for the sport when someone can shoot a 591 and not go home with a medal. I'd say it was a long, quiet drive up, eh intershoot? :p

I definitely enjoyed today. :D First spin for the new rifle and I break my PB and win the competition! :)

Get that assignment finished IWM? :D

Hope you enjoyed the match online. Although there were a number of breakdowns with the O2 dongle, causing scores to stop updating, it was obvious from our end when it happened so the texts were just a teensy weensy bit superfluous :p

If Terry had been able to stay for the final, the qualification score would have been 585 , which is another record.

Speaking of records, Lilja are not slow about taking credit for their barrels:
    22 Rimfire Winners and Records

    2002 Season | 2000 Season | 1999 Season | 1998 Season | Wins from earlier years
    2010

May 2010: German shooter Julian Justus does well in recent shoots. In an e-mail his coach Bill Murray wrote: "Julian Justus used his new Lilja-barreled Anschütz to win the World Cup in Peking 3x40 event a couple of weeks ago, and placed second in the same discipline at the ISCH in Hannover last weekend. At 22 years of age, Julian is undoubtedly the most talented young shooter in Germany at the moment. Last year, his first in the adult ranks, he placed third in 3x40 at the European Championships and 6th in the Munich World Cup."
Matt Emmons wrote in an e-mail that he needed a new barrel. He commented that this barrel had won the following over the years: "That barrel has two Olympic medals, a world record, all four US National records for the Olympic smallbore disciplines, 6 perfect 600's in prone, and lots of World Cup medals."

    Ireland Spring 2010 - Results

    Monday, 08 March 2010
Gary Duff of Comber Rifle Club won the Spring Special with an unconfirmed but very probable new Irish record of 597 and a combined score of 701.3 which has been confirmed as a new Irish record. Gary went into the final with an unassailable lead of 15 points over Conor McDermottroe of Dublin University Rifle Club who finished in second place followed by Joe O'Donohoe of the Defence Forces Shooting Team.
Gary used a Lilja barreled Bleiker manufactured rifle in setting this new Irish record. http://www.rathdrumrpc.org/images/Results/Spring%20Special%202010.pdf

Nice to be mentioned on the same page as Matt Emmons Gary :D

It was a hell of a match, drama aided by the technical hiccups, of course. :p I'm gutted I missed it, would love to have been there in person, and hopefully in the final. Still, my average is lovely and pathetic for the turkey shoot, so will hopefully take a scalp or two there.

Ah Dave me auld hairy faced friend.........thats where yer wrong. I dont work like that at all...... I beat Floydster! Simple.

Medals have no interest to me, as when I go out to a shoot it only matters I beat as many of those in the car with me as possible, everyone else is just collateral damage. :p

It might just have been in the 60 shot match, but thats still progress for me, and the first time I have broke 590 in some time! ;)

Hows that head of yours commin on? taken my advice yet and come clean??? :D

I have to admit I took great pleasure in watching Conor win the match with the Bleiker.......straight out of the box, not a round fired.

Bolted everything together at the last minute and spanked all around him. Either these guns are very good, or Conor can shoot a wee bit too!! :p - or was it the gay porn muzzy??

Anyway, thanks for the coffee Conor, set me up for the day............still goin too. We just have to replicate everything about today at the next shoot, to ensure the conditions are the same, so you may make sure yer man round the corner has plenty of the good stuff in for the next time!

Our offshore rifle coordinator has just uploaded a new rifle classification list to the NTSA website.

    Makes interesting reading :)

More importantly, those averages will be used for the handicap in the turkey shoot next month... :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I've very cunningly been getting my average as close to zero as humanly possible over the last while. Hope you've an extra-big turkey for me! :D In all seriousness though, the class list looks great now. Big numbers and high scores. If class A expands any further, it might be interesting to split off a class X at the top, maybe with a 588 average? We're extremely upwardly mobile anyway, which is brilliant. Just have to keep DURC throwing them in at the lower end too and we're sorted.

I think the point could be well made that no training was harmed in the pursuit of that win. Rifle arrived first, butt plate arrived a detail or so before the first shot was fired from it.

No training there that I could see :D

Buttplate, foresight and a borrowed rearsight. :)

The buttplate setup was... interesting... since either HPS don't want their buttplates to go on Anschutz carriers or Anschutz don't want Gemini buttplates on their carriers. Either way, there's a definite lack of the necessary nuts and bolts, I had to scavenge some from different parts of the Anschutz buttplate.

I had set up the cheekpiece roughly with no rearsight the night before, I don't know if that counts as cheating training. :)

Indeed, and I had tailed off on the training with the KK200 a while back in anticipation of the new rifle.

I think it could be safely said that I'd done more training with my new barrel than you had with your new rifle:)

Used it twice before Sunday; once with the old sight tube and once with the shorter one RK gave me.

Conor, grab my buttplate out of my kit bag next time you're in the range and see how the carrier setup works. It's basically a straight-up bolt on job. HPS don't make a carrier setup for the Precise stock, and when I was looking into it, had no intention of doing so. Mine's the only way I found it reasonably possible to do it using the bits of the HPS plate. Don't think I bodged anything from the Anschutz one either, so you should be able to avoid that.

Cool, must have a look at that. I just nicked a few bits out of the Anschütz buttplate and got it working. Time was of the essence! :)

I wouldn't change the format. On average you get half the field at matches, so there'd be too few to make it a worthwhile addition. We're getting closer to raising the bar though and a cut off of 582 might be the next step.

That'll be interesting to see. Only a matter of time before it climbs further too. The current dramatic increase in scores is brilliant to watch. It's going to happen before too much longer that it takes 590+ to make a final, and that's going to be absolutely brillaint.
