Just noticed this tweet from DLB:

"Good news in RTE as Noel Curran is named as new boss. One of the good guys and a great development for programme makers"

What a lick arse. Lets see how good he is when he halves your wages

The idea is to give the kids the ideas for what they want for Christmas in plenty of time for the parents to get the toys. I really don't think think a month beforehand is anything abnormal and indeed it's been on in late November for as far back as I can remember.

yeah he's just posted to confirm it's Friday the 26th... Also

"Just finished filming the Toy Show promo. If you didn't know already, I am an eejit and this ad will confirm everything.."

I, for one, dont need confirmation...

    Yes and No.

I used to watch it every year when Gaybo was on and then Pat Kenny ruined it. Seen a little last year and thought Tubs was good, so yeah I probably will watch it this year. Its very far from Xmas though, isn't it? Why don't they have it the 1st or 2nd week in December????

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 785 ✭✭✭Shane10

theres to many little upstarts with no manners talking about toys they tried out. less kids and more demonstrations from tubbers. when gay was doing it he used to have great craic with his researchers/crew messing around with the toys. of course everyone in ireland watches it no matter what mainly cause it used to be so good for all of us when we were kids and gay was doing it.

It used to always be the first weekend in December but was brought forward a week probably ten years ago or so.

    Any mention of the guests?

I expect Jedward to be on again this year

    From Paddy Powers
Applies to the live broadcast of the Late Late Toy Show 2010. *Must be intact when Ryan first picks it up and be visibly broken on the show. **Must be a live performance of a full song with backing from the band. PP decision final in settlement.

Ryan to perform a song during the show** 10/11

Ryan to break one of the toys* 11/4

Ryan to make a child cry 10/1

Ryan to announce that there's no such thing as Santa 100/1

Ryan to swear at a child 250/1

Anyone have any ideas for a toy show drinking game?

I just checked the rte site now and last weeks late late show is available to me in Sweden so hopefully it will be the same for the toy show version :)

Well The Late late Toy Show is usually repeated the Sunday afterward, and then EVERY Late Late Show is repeated on the Monday night / Tuesday Morning afterward... Will you catch one of these...

aside from that, I would say it will almost certainly be on the RTE player.. You could also try organizing a proxy Irish server in advance..

Can I have the odds for the following:

    - him getting through the night without a single reference to JFK or Sarah Palin or anything U.S.
    - Gerry Ryan making a guest appearance on the show
    - One of the musical kids downing tools mid performance and holding up a sign saying "Kenny, Tubridy, Finucane, Duffy are all paid too much"...
    - ex-wife Anne Marie Power showing up on the show with a christmas present for Tubridy..

wish my old mate and dearest fellow paul stokes was still around to add a bit of fun to the late late

One of the best things every year is the sardonic fun in the thread here coupled with the fact we almost all secretly love it.

I love the Toy Show, but nobody did it like Gaybo.

    Mostly looking forward to Dustin!

Oh dear lord... the children, think about the children
BROADCASTER Ryan Tubridy will make history tonight when he becomes the first 'Late Late' host to sing on the long-running chatshow.

The 36-year-old will perform a song from 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' as the opening piece of tonight's annual 'Late Late Toy Show'.

    toy2_DE_749767t.jpg

Does he ever shut up about that damned book/movie..

edit: Tubridy is the one in the middle.

He's an all round entertainer y'know! He truely is Ireland's Lionel Blair.

Author, US political expert, radio/tv presenter, nerd and now singer.

    Thats some CV right there.

Gaybo was too compotent for my liking, PK's decade made for some of the most memorable moments of all because, ironcally given how ill-suited he was to the regular Late Late Show, his stilted and slightly embarassed delivery gave all the kids a million and one chances to stand out.

That said, Tubs, in all due fairness, has managed not to ruin the toy show, something we should all be happy about.

Snow on the ground outside, LLTS on tonight, it's Christmas already, even the IMF are invited!

I dunno, for someone with a couple of kids already, it seems strange that (to me anyway) that last year he largely kept his distance from the kids, the natural interaction is just not there.

Maybe that was just awkwardness being the first show however and he may be much better tonight.

However, that promo tells me otherwise.

I think it was nerves. He seemed more excited than the kids. The fact that it's finally being presented by someone who used to watch it as an excited kid I think is a nice touch.

Ryan Tubridy has revealed some of the treats in store on tonight's Late Late Toy Show as he talks Jumpergate, singing and special guests.

RTÉ TEN goes Behind the Scenes ahead of tonight's Toy Show and gets an exclusive look at the set, the toys, the preparations as well as a special interview with host Tubridy.

In response to queries over whether he will wear a special Christmas jumper, as previous Late Late Show hosts have, he said: "I've come under extraordinary pressure to wear a Christmas jumper. Somebody suggested that Christmas might not happen if I don't wear a Christmas jumper.

"People are very attached to it, so I think I'm edging towards a decision in favour of wearing a Christmas jumper this year but I'll also be wearing another outfit which I can't really go into right now..."

Late Late Show Executive Producer, Jim Jennings revealed that amongst tonight's guests are McFly and X Factor 2009 winner Joe McElderry.
