I'm not looking for medical advice, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried this "PB180 free Gait analysis" and found it any good?

I have never tried this particualr one but a gait analysis is very important in getting the correct footwear for running...

I had a basic gait analysis done in amphibianking in bray, I think some other shop does it to, runways or something. They then give you a selection of runners to suit your gait.

Has anybody any sites on how to determine it yourself, I expect you can examine shoes for wear or something. Or a site to tell you what it means when examining shoes, e.g. I always wear out the inside of my shoes at the back at the heel, dunno what this means, it is usually the first to go before the soles go.

I had it done a few months ago. They record you running on a treadmill and then play it back in slow motion. They can then look at which part of your foot hits the treadmill first to determine what kind of running style you have.

Apparently I run on the outside of my foot which can lead to all sorts of problems. They suggested a pricey pair of Asics that were designed to minimize the problem but I never got around to buying them.

Lads, read Born to Run. It will open your eyes about Asics Kinsei and Gel's and all that jazz.

Barefoot running isn't for everyone, and can take time for a runner to adapt to it.

I've had my gait analysis done in Elverys on Suffolk st, and found it very good. I wasn't recommended the most expensive shoe but the shoe that suit me best. Have gone back to them ever since

This is basic but should do the trick!

Barefoot running should be for everyone as it's our natural state, as you said though it does take them for people to fix a lifteime of wearing runner's! I like innov8's approach eventhough it is a bit of a cash cow their gradual progression makes sense http://www.inov-8.com/transition/Tra...klet_(WEB).pdf

I had it done in Elvery's and nearly bought a pair of trainers from them but I decided to do some more investigating.

I went to AmphibianKing in bray that weekend and found they had a range for me to try, one of which was the trainer recommended to me by Elvery's.

On trying them compared to the others - the ones I nearly bought from Elvery's were far less suitable for me than the others as there was some but no where near enough support.

The ones I bought were a little known brand that I doubt Elvery's would sell one of, if they stocked them as I imagine a lot of their trade is based on big brand stuff.

The moral of this tale is shop around but specialised running shops are always going to be better than a high st shop imo.

Eldiva why are you digging up old threads on elverys on two different forums?

    Just wondering like...

I haven't used this much since setting up my account, and only came across these threads. I feel that people need to give staff from Elverys a break, they may not all be experienced runners but some do have alot of passion and knowledge.

What's the pay like in elverys these days?

Don't shop there myself, they've a poor selection of footwear anyway.
