Ok so basically, if you had the chance to bring one player who has played for the club you support before back to the club now, who would it be?

Can be any player at all, alive, dead, retired or still playing, but try limit it to just one player,

Would be nice to give a bit of a reason too, so list your Club, the player, and the reason!

    Club: Blackburn Rovers

    Player: Alan Shearer

    Reason:

Well Blackburn are playing some nice football at times, mixing and matching what they can play, and the route one tactics that they are perceived to play all the time, but with an average of 1 goal per game this season the end result has been terrible. We have not had a natural poacher and finisher even half of the quality of Shearer in a long time, and for me it is the major problem position at the club. So would love Shearer back, I still have hopes of him becoming part of the set up again in real life!

    Club: Arsenal

    Player: David Seaman.

Reason: Quite simply he hasnt ever been replaced and its the one area of the pitch we consistently struggle. How I long for a keeper that can command his area and be a decent shot stopper to boot. Big Dave had it all.

Oh look, a dig from Jazzy. Well fuck me  Your input is appreciated as always.

I would have said Colin Bell. As it is, I prefer my own memories rather than living vicariously through those of others by naming someone I never saw play.

    Everton
    Andrei Kancheslkis

    Club: Bohs

    Player: Kevin Hunt

    Reason:
    Kevin Hunt's a Legend
    He wears the number 4
He plays for the Bohemians and he gives us so much more
He tackles with his left foot
    He tackles with his right
He hates the ****in' Rovers and we think he's dynamite!

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Solano.

Absolutely brilliant player for us. Always put a decent shift in. Easily one of my favourite players in a Newcastle shirt.

I could've said Shearer yeah but our midfield could be quite special with Solano and Tiote in the middle of the pitch.

Billy Bonds. Would sort out out pathetic defense once and for all.

What do you mean 'that long'? It's six years.

You'd swear it was Mike1865 offering someone from the days of brown footballs and over the ankle boots.

    Always liked Nobby,

and Tiote had a great game the other day, first time i really watched him, very good player, shame Ben Arfa broke his leg!

Bit of a pity alright. But hey, we're doing ok. A midfield of Jonas, Tiote, Solano and Ben Arfa would work wonders I reckon.

Although Jonas is the serious weak link. He's not that good a left winger. Can't cross for sh*t.

But yeah, Nobby would be my choice.

    Club: Man Utd

    Player: Roy Keane

Reason: I could have easily put down Cantona or Bryan Robson, the reason being that the current United side is missing a really strong leader.
Put any of the above players in to the current side and the strength and self belief would shoot up immediately, at least I'd expect it to. Keane and Robson were probably slightly different to Cantona in terms of leadership, Cantona led by example while Robson and Keane were capable of dragging their side through tough times single handedly as well as being a focal point of authority on the pitch which would be a huge addition to Uniteds current squad.
Perhaps in this era of pampered millionaire teenage stars we might have to wait a while for leaders in the mould of a Roy Keane or a Bryan Robson who came from a different era of football when most players on the pitch were men in their own right. These days even mature players seem to lack the aura of leadership these past greats had as a matter of course.

    Glazers Out!

John Barnes circa 87-90. Best winger/wide man I have ever seen in a Liverpool shirt. We have not had a player of his quality out wide since Digger at his peak. McManaman would have been the closest we came.

    or

Graeme Souness circa '78 -'84. Easily the best cm that Liverpool have had. Had everything in his game and would be the kind of leader we needed last season and this season.

Ps he will definitely score when rat features Neville gifts him the ball.

My head says Keano but my heart says...

    cantona.jpg

What a player... the inspirational leadership he provided to so many youngsters coming through the ranks at the time (Beckham, Giggs, Scholes etc).

And the 4 league titles in his 5 years at Old Trafford after a 26 year wait.

    Growing up all my friends would go on about how great Eric Cantona was, my Dad made it his personal duty to ensure I knew who the real king was (even when he joined Madrid, he commanded the respect of the Barca faithful, he was that good);
