Bands you'd like to see get back together

just saw suede have a new double album best of....disappointed that my fave suede song "the chemistry between us" wasn't on it but still may get it

anyway rumours are that they may get back together, also another band from that era, Pulp have decided to get back together too

so what bands would you like to see get back together? I think it would be good to choose from bands with members that are still active on the scene and also maybe not a good idea to choose a band that broke up a long long time ago and getting back together may tarnish their legacy

so anyway I guess the two commonest selections would probably be the smiths and the stone roses and every time a member of either of those bands is interviewed they are asked that question, i'd love to see those 2 get back together before members get too old but I doubt it will ever happen, too much water under the bridge, never say never

It would be great to see Abba back together too but I think the blonde one has become a recluse...one can but dream

I probably wouldn't like to see the stone roses back together, just because I dislike Ian Brown.I'd like to see The Unicorns get back together, well maybe just to release a second album because Nick has seemed to have gone a bit mad for limelight.

    The stone roses
    the jam
    oasis
    the libertines

ahh that's all the music I listen too and they're all spilt up:(

They played a few gigs in the summer..

The Smiths, but just for one night only.

    +1 on The Smiths.

Johnny Marr has proved with The Cribs that he's still got it. Morrissey on the other hand...

So I'll go with Women, if the rumours are true.

and Mclusky too, that would be great.

Talking Heads. I'd die a happy man if I could get to see them live just once. Never going to happen though. :(

The lead singer from Cast was on soccer am at the weekend. They are getting back together for a tour before xmas (not sure on a dublin gig) and a new album after. There must be some sort of 90's bands retro revival happening.

I'd like to see New Order patch up their differences and tour again. Bernard Sumner played some JD/NO tracks with his band Bad Liuetenant @ the picnic and it was quality!!

    :D

    GBV.

Libs have done the cash in on the festival reunion and that's about it. It's sad they had such a buzz and energy when they hit first. It was sadly lacking on the reunion.

Pining for the good ol days....

I'd like to see the moldy peaches get back together and make a new album. i can give or take the solo stuff they have released so far.

+1 on Suede. I've always regretted not seeing their last Dublin show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,803 ✭✭✭pappyodaniel

Kings of Leon. They made 2 excellent albums, 1 average album and then disappeared, not to be heard of since.
    What ever happened those guys?

Tbh I don't like seeing bands reforming, very rarely a band comes back together for creative reasons, it's usually just for the money made from touring and increasing record sales.

I actually can't think of anybody. Odd.

I saw Whipping Boy at Oxegen 2006 when they reformed for a few gigs and they were great. I'd love to see them play again sometime.
Sigur Rós probably will get back together in the not so distant future and record a new album, fingers crossed.
As much as i love The Smiths and love to see them live i think they're one band who shouldn't reform. They left a perfect legacy behind them and i would not like to see them tarnish that in any way.

    Oh wait,

    Godspeed you black emperor!

Sigur Ros haven't broken up

I think i remember reading a while ago they're taking a break as some of the ladies in it are pregnant! (could be a complete lie but it does sound plausible at least!)

They've no more broken up. Will be recording again soon enough.

I remember reading something about a hiatus, but then when a band member does a solo album (Jonsi) then usually its just a case of taking a break! I also remember reading something about them getting back into the studio by the end of 2010! A piece of me will die if they ever break up.

Red Hot Chili Peppers for example are on hiatus, havent released anything since 06, but defo havent broken up. Hope to hear from them soon.

Also, The Darkness! Mocked by some, but I miss them....some great tunes

Would love the Silver Jews to reform but they won't. They recorded about 5 or 6 albums but only started touring late in the day, so they didn't ever play many gigs. Although they did make it to Whelans a few years ago, which was class.

There was a thread about on here a while back about Sleater-Kinney. That would be great too.

Thats wierd, are you me? I was thinking those exact two bands.
Have you listened to Steve Masons album? Its fairly beta bandish.
I also thought Gruff Rhys on that gorillaz album sounded kind of neon neony

Oasis. Gutted I never got to see them :(

Other than that I'm not really sure as I got to see RATM. Oh actually, Bush would be magic.

From the Irish scene, I loved Turn so would be great to hear some more from Ollie and the lads.

I thankfully got to see them back in 2002. Still love listening to them.

Not the same I know but Mark Greaney just launched his new website and there's some songs from the unreleased third album there plus some new stuff.

Grandaddy is about the only band I can think of. Maybe The Pogues but I think it's a bit too late for that.

meh - they got worse the longer they went on - if they weren't able to fulfill their potential when they were around, can't see the point in them returning
    Neon Neon.

it was a one-off project - Gruff Rhys has a new album out in Feb. which should be great
    The La's

didn't they reform for some gigs last year? Think I heard that Cast are now reforming also (why??).

Both Tom Morello and Zack have been quoted saying they may return to the studio to record again. Here's hoping.

I'd love if the original Smashing Pumpkins started working together again. I like the "new" Smashing Pumpkins, but they'll never compare to the original line-up.

As others have said: Talking Heads, The Smiths, The Stone Roses. I'd love to see Bob Dylan & the Band play together.
