Noisy UPC box

Got a new UPC box- the digital video recorder one last week.

Read some threads here and the consensus seems to be that there is a problem with a fan- it really sounds like a hard drive though....
Anybody managed to get UPC to replace a dodgy noisy box or has anyone advice on how to get rid of the sound?

There is no fan on that box. If it's so noisy that you can hear it over the, say, 6 o'clock news then the drive might not be mounted properly. Ring them and have it replaced.
