The weather graph on YR.NO, couple with a search of weather stations along my route. Accuweather for a backup.

I use the weather+ app for ios. It's got a 5-day forecast but updates constantly. I always check it at night when I'm prepping my kit for the next morning.

On the bike, wind speed & direction are as important as the chance of rain.

The Met Eireann 5 day forecast for rainfall is useful for planning a spin next morning, as their short range forecast only extends out to 12 hours. The 5 day rainfall chart shows varying shades of blue and green for heavier rain, and grey for lighter rain. However, there are 2 problems with it:

    1. The grey does not cover mist. I got wet last Sunday in 4 hours of mist, even though Met Eireann's rainfall chart showed no rain.
    2. The chart does not differentiate between showers and continuous rain.

I've concluded that Met Eireann's model is a pile of sh1t for coastal areas, particularly West Cork. The yr.no website tends to be a bit more accurate, and the hour by hour feature is great. Although yr has been wrong too a few times.

Rainfall radar and short term forecast on Met Éireann's site are pretty much all I need.

MT Cranium on here and Irish Weather Online also give a good overview.

I use ExpertCharts, I find it's by far the best after you learn your way around it.

Use the panel on the left to select wind or rain. You can select different models also but I find the euro4 model is pretty good for plannning rides the following day or two.

    or

    Yr.no

This android app is also brilliant. Updated very frequently it gives weather reports from airports.
You'll need the airport code and you can tap on results to give decoded info that the layperson will understand.
