Lost all motivation

I was doing great, 5-6 months or so of fairly heavy gym work, had put on a fair amount of muscle on arms and shoulders and lost over 5kg from the waistline :)

Then gave up for a while for exams and went on holiday and just haven't been able to get back to it. When weather was good I was still out and about but now that weathers horrid again I need to get back to it.

Work doesn't exactly help, sitting around all day, not interesting, not enough to do. Puts me in bad form and I just want to go home and sit on the couch.

    How do you motivate yourself?

I try do all workouts in the AM before work, generally up at 5, workout 6.30 to 8 and then into work.

I find the colder darker morning MORE motivating than summer, its almost like its easy to do it in summer and a bit more dedicated in winter...i think it might actually be the the perception of other people that adds to my motivation and dedication to getting up and getting it done..if that makes sense, like hearing people tell you "i dont know how you do it" "you get up at what time" etc etc.....God i really will do anything for motivation;)

Split from long term GF 4 weeks ago. Zero motivation, lack of appetite in the first week plus junk since has wasted me.

Last night drew up a new routine and am hoping that it starts being fun again as a result. It's too easy to sit on your arse and get out of the gym routine.

I just generally moan about it online; consequently get slagged for being a wuss, and then man up and get my ass to the gym :P

Seriously though, it's just getting back in a habit really, and kinda putting yourself on autopilot. Take your gym gear to work, you're a lot less likely to skip a session if you have it with you. Also, try to remember that you really will feel better for it once you get there! Set yourself a target of number sessions every week too. If you've planned the time to fit in 5 sessions then you have no excuse not to do them.

Having a good routine where you're regularly making progress is really important too, it's not exactly motivating if you're going in and working your ass off but not seeing results!
