Ive started working out recently, got a couple of quick questions. Is 30mins every 2 days enough to build muscle? Also, im just doing upper body at the moment, is it alright to leave lower body?

I guess it's more to do with the quality of the exercises in the 30 minutes you currently do, than the amount of time you spend on them, that would make the most difference. But, in my opinion, 30 minutes seems fine. You could, I imagine, fit a workout of the squat, bench press and deadlift into 30 minutes. That would be a great workout for a beginner.

But this isn't what you're doing at present because you're neglecting your lower body. The squat and the deadlift, which are 2 lower body exercises, are the best exercises for building muscle. If you neglect your lower body you won't make as many gains on your upper body as someone who trains both. Strange but true according to studies that have been carried out on this.

If I were you, I'd check out a beginner's program such as Starting Strength:

    Hope this helps.

Your legs(quads) are one of three of your biggest muscle groups. Neglect them at your peril! Working your legs and building muscle here kickstarts your metabolism and sends messages to the rest of your body that muscle growth is needed.

Also, do you really want a strong uper body supported on spindly little sticks? Going to the beach to show off your new look but you have to wear jeans?

Didn't think so. 2 daysin an absolute min. 3 would be a better starting point but depending on what you want you may need to train 4,5 or even 6 times a week on a mix of cardio and strength.
