Such is life I'm afraid. And until people actually make a stand(which they wont by the way) nothing will change. You could switch to buying bottled water but it's gonna work out a lot more expensive. Adapt and overcome. What else can you do?

Meh, live in a b&b so they already charge us... But arent we one of few countries where water is free??

other countries are charged not due to negligence though

What is even more sickening is the possibility of being charged for water if you have your own well.

My water turns brown every so often, it's more or less unusable for anything other than washing and seeing the colour it goes it barely feels like your clean after washing in it.

Well, if they're gonna start charging for water then they need to stop poisoning it with fluoride. I buy bottled water as it is but if I have to pay for the tap water as well then it better damn well be safe to drink.

Why don't you put some buckets outside your back door use that water then. Call the council and have them disconnect your water.

Care to elaborate? Flouride is hardly poison. Outrageous statement.

fluoride is unnecessarily added to our water supply, fluoride is a toxic chemical and a sedative wiki the rest..

You're being charged for processing the rain water into drinking water.
That means maintaining reservoirs, all the infrastructure & hundreds of kilometers of pipes required to bring it to your kitchen tap, filtering it of contaminants, constant quality monitoring etc.

There may be plenty of rain, but the water processing plants have a finite capacity to process it.

It's why most people in areas that add flouride still have teeth in their mouths.

Fluoride is a neurotoxin. Why do you think there's a warning on toothpaste tubes not to swallow or to call poison control if your child swallows more than a pea-sized amount? The fluoride they put in water in Ireland is industrial waste the council's get from a fertilizer plant in Wexford or Waterford.

or brushing your teeth?,tooth paste has the right amount contained, why add more toxic chemicals than you need to your body?
    unnecessary.

If that actually happened it would be something, They may do it at the source but by the time the water gets to my tap it's unusable. It doesn't matter what they do if the end product delivered to me isn't usable and basically everything they do to clean the water is pointless if it's contaminated again by the time it gets to the end user.

    Ok.

And what does that have to do with water charges?

You realise you don't pay for water to have it imported from Zimbabwe. You pay to have it (in a stable municipal water system, which is something in development for Ireland, a supposedly first world country) to have it cleaned, treated, purified; and piped into your home. An abundance of rain is completely irrelevant. Go collect rainwater if you don't want to pay for treated municipal tap. Hell, just go collect rainwater, and start drinking it, and tell me what you think.

On a side note Ireland pumps fluoride into the water supply like its the cure for cancer.. could seriously do without the concentration being supplied today.

And you reckon they put toxic levels of the stuff in the water? I drink tap water on a fairly regular basis. No ill effects so far.

That's bullshít. All toothpastes have fluoride in them, making water fluoridation completely pointless for dental health. Even if that were the case, the government are mass medicating people without their consent. If I want my own teeth to rot and fall out of my head that's my own damn business. Water fluoridation has been banned in most other European countries and there has been no significant rise in tooth decay.

Local county councils are responsible for testing fluoride levels. I rest my case.

    An ignorant moan.

The kind of moan you'll hear middle aged women moan about for years to come because they don't understand how clean drinking water reaches their tap. Like they assume Jesus just has a tinkle in their attic reservoir.

How do you reckon it's safer to drink chlorine and fluoride over bottled water?

So you have proof of negligence? What exactly do you mean by "I rest my case"? Seems like you're not resting it on much...

if people don't brush their teeth its their business,it's not up to local councils to medicate.face it,it's unnecessary and if i was to start adding fluoride to my guests drinks without giving them clear details and a good reason i'd be arrested.

But the levels of flouride in tap water aren't toxic...otherwise a lot of people would be seriously ill/dead.

fluoride can cause a lot of problems leading onto other diseases there's no reason why some kidney problems etc. that have led onto death haven't actually started with fluoride in our tap water

The brown water is usually a rusty pipe in your house and although it normally doesnt pose a health risk I can see why you wouldn't drink it.

Rather than a weak Ad Hominem attack you could also do any miniscule amount of google-research on the subject to find the same information yourself.

So you're an expert plumber now? Those diarrhea breakouts in the west were tens of thousands of people getting rusty pipes at the same time?

And you're basing this on what exactly? You have substantial evidence saying that flouride in tap water causes kidney problems? Or are you just scaremongering?

Nope, it's happening across the town, it happens in my neighbours house and the last apartment I lived in and happens in a friends house a kilometre out the road.

In rare cases improper implementation of water fluoridation can result in overfluoridation that causes outbreaks of acute fluoride poisoning, with symptoms that include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Three such outbreaks were reported in the U.S. between 1991 and 1998, caused by fluoride concentrations as high as 220 mg/L; in the 1992 Alaska outbreak, 262 people became ill and one person died. In 2010, approximately 60 gallons of fluoride were released into the water supply in Asheboro, North Carolina in 90 minutes—an amount that was intended to be released in a 24-hour period.

No i'm not denying that in some cases it's inadvisable to drink. But the majority of the time the stuff is fine. When there's an outbreak the boil warnings and do not drink warnings are issued. All I was saying was the majority of times the brown water doesn't pose a health risk.
