Netgear DG834G Connection Slow

Have recently changed my Eircom Zyxel router for a Netgear DG834G but noticed the connection speed is slower getting a Speed of 1148 kbps /256 kbps on the Netgear but when I switched back to the Eircom Zyxel I am getting a Speed of 2048 kbps /256 kbps I also checked on a old Eircom Netopia and that is getting 2048 kbps…

Have you made a note of all the settings on each of the routers and checked to see if there is any difference on any of the settings between the routers.
