O'loughlin Gales of kilkenny had a good win over rathdowney of laois 3-16 to 0-14..... looked easy throughout ... all six forwards scoring from play....Next up Dublin championships Ballyboden St.enda's in the semi final in nolan park kilkenny... should be a good game........

ratharny of westmeath defeated coolderry of offaly 16 points to 14 today.. and will play wexford champions next... well done to all concerned with ratharny and westmeath hurling.....

Galway County Final between loughrea and sixmile bridge ended in a draw.... thurles sarsfields claimed the tipp title today and now look good for a good run in the munster championship....

who's your pick for the club championship ?? looks wide open

Hogan Stand made a typo there that raharney got 9 goals lol! your score sounds a bit more like it. o'loughlins will win leinster handy and will be a force. If Thurles Sars come thru Munster that could set up a cracker of a match.

..also Kilmallock defeated Crusheen today by 3 points.. With Portumna and Ballyhale gone the championship is wide open. The game between Sarsfields and De la Salle could be very decisive as they look possibly the best two teams in it.

thurles Sarsfields @ 7/2 looks a reasonable bet

Anybody have any thoughts on Oulart the Ballagh? They are the 2/1 favourites on Paddy Power.
I know they won the Wexford championship last year and this year, and they have a great chance of making the Leinster final too, but are they the best team left in the championship?? Inter-county hurling in Wexford isn't that strong at the moment. So I was a bit suprised when I saw their odds.

Very surprised to see Oolart the favourites. I don't think they've gotten a great record the last few years in Leinster. They've won Wexford alot over the previous few years and I don't think they have won Leinster in that time. I seen them beaten by Ballyboden a few years ago in Parnell Park & they weren't great & I think they'd still be relying on the same main players from then.

I'd give Sars (Tipperary) a serious chance. Have a seriously talented team. Even though they're a young team alot of them have All Ireland medals from the last few years with Tipp minors, u21s & seniors. At 7/2 I think they're the best bet.

Biggest rivals I'd say would be O'Loughlin Gaels who'll probably win Leinster.

They are partly favoured as well because they are on the easy side of the draw. Think they have the Westmeath champs next then a Leinster final and then a semi-final against whoever wins Ulster. That's not a bad path to have in order to get to a final.

On the other side Munster is still relatively wide open and the winners have the Galway champions in a semi-final.

Ah right I didn't know that the semi-final draw was already made (Leinster vs Ulster). That's one of the main reasons then why Oulart have such short odds.

Ballyhale had to take Oulart to extra time to beat them last year, had that match been televised I think people’s opinions of the Wexford side might be completely different. They have retired a few old stalwarts since losing to Ballyboden & St. Martin’s a few years ago, and pretty much romped home in Wexford this year. Liam Dunne is at the helm these past 2 years, and has a seriously united and talented bunch to work with.

Whether the rough and tumble of Winter hurling will suit them is another kettle, but I’m not a bit surprised that their odds are so mean. Skillwise they look better than OLG, but a lot will depend on whether they can get Darren Stamp back from injury in time, as enforcers are vital to any team, particularly this time of year.

nothing to do with their odds of winning. they still have the little matter of beating the KK/dUB champs and munster champs.

The main reason has just been listed......... they came closer than portumana did to beating Ballyhale in the last campaign

thurles have a big game against Kilmallock down in Kilmallock next weekend. I know that winning the county was the big step for them but they will give thurles enough of it. two teams with some great young players id say it will be a good game.

sars have definately been looking past the county this year. especially when they they see the big fish being knocked out.

What are De La Salle. They have come good after some tough words were said, or supposed to have been said. They have not looked back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 793 ✭✭✭tatoo

De La Salle are 7/2 to win Munster and 14/1 to win the AI ,
looks an open enough championship with the big guns gone .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,530 ✭✭✭shockframe

Kilmallock have a tough game against thurles sars on sunday but many are getting carried away with thurles sars because of tipps all ireland success.

only once in the last 10 years or so has has a county won an all ireland and a club from the same county gone on to win the club in march.(kilkenny 06-ballyhale 07) if yere wondering.

i would give kilmallock a chance because they have lots of young players coming through and they have a decent record in munster.home advantage could count for a lot.

sars and de la salle wouldnt be great so the winner of next sundays semi final has a great chance of going all the way to the all ireland final.

The munster and leinster semi finals take place today along with the replay of the galway county final...

at this present time 11 teams remain in the hunt for all ireland glory but by this evening bar a draw only 6 teams will remain...

will any of the favourites fall ?? thurles sarsfields ?? oulart the ballagh ??can raharny of westmeath get to a leinster final ??
will limerick hurling be gave a boast by kilmallock beating thurles ??
can the loughrea and o'loughlins who knocked out the hurling king pins of portuma and ballyhale, justify their favourites tag and win today ??

    whats your opinion ???

sarsfields v de la salle live on tg4 at 2pm
    o'loughlins v ballyboden defered coverage at 3.45pm

Sars 2-11 De La Salle 0-17
Ref really played for a draw 2mins of inj time - played 3 . ET should be interesting.
Mullane missed some sitters from frees for De La Salle.
    Sars keeper played very well!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Fantastic point by Kevin Moran to tie the match. DLS's wayward shooting could have cost them dearly. Epic performance by the Sars keeper as well.

Anyone know what the free after the 65 in the DLS game was for?

Some of roches decisions have been preplexing to say the least.

Sars got 2 frees during injury time and wasted the guts of a minute taking them.

I'm guessing the ref gave it for the Sars player being too close to the De La Salle freetaker and trying to put him off. Seemed harsh to me though.

DLS did their best to throw away the game in the 2nd half with the amount of wides they had. Mullane hasn't gotten into the game at all either. 7 mins left in ET and it's still level, 2-14 to 0-20.

Sars 2-15 DlaS 0-22 into the second half of Et

A few mins left in the match in Nowlan Park between O'Loughlin Gaels and Ballyboden SE and it's
    all square
. Deferred coverage on TG4 after the Sars-DLS game.

    Edit:
Game finished level. Think it was 1-14 to 3-8.

How many people actually understand the added time rule. People think beause there is two minutes announced, that does not mean that extra cant be added. The time annouced could be communicated to the sideline official maybe a minute or two before it is announced, and in the meantime there could be a stoppage. The watch could also be stopped for any reason in added time. When the clock comes in for the League and Waterford Crystal Cup etc in January it will cut out alot of questions. The Club championships will however continue without the clock which will be used in the Provincial secondary competitions and leagues only.

Yep, all the signal means is that the ref must allow at least 2 mins (or whatever) of injury time. He can choose to play more if he feels its required.

Kilmallock are a microcosm of the County side. Great to get the ball but cant do nothing with it. Shooting from crazy angles and missing easy chances. 15 wides is shocking. Paraic Maher practically out-hurled them on his own. If De La Salle beat Sars i'll eat my boxers.

deserved the win.. slow start... better time for last 40 mins of normal time...gave away silly frees and goals kept ballyboden in the game... o'loughlins better team in extra time and deserved the win... exciting game.......

oulart v oloughlins will be a great leinster final

Great game today. Draw would not have been an unfair result. Dickie had a bad game letting over running of the ball go all game and pulling it at critical point. If the final is as good as the semi it will be a great game.

Good game between DLS and sars.sars arent a great side but they found it easier to get scores and whilst many will say DLS would have won easily had they scored those frees sars have to make do with their 2 big names fraggy and cussen being the worst players on the field.if they had any bit of form they could have won.

sars can point to a minute extra overtime played but if cian mac had taken the free 15-25 seconds after the foul the ref would have blown it up after the free so the time wasting arguably cost them.

mullane was quiet but conditions didnt really suit him.its hard though to see them beating thurles sars but if the weather is bad it might keep it close.

But c'mon you have to admit it was an unbelievable point from Kevin Moran to equalize from what didnt seem a scorable position, I dont think the ref would have played another puck had the ball landed in the half or full forward line

BTW Oulart The ballagh 4-11 Raharney 4-8 anyone see this game sounded like a great effort from Raharney, and after their win against the Offaly champs they deserve great credit being a serious team and putting Westmeath hurling on the map

    Some wasteful shooting by Sars.

For DLS's dominance, they should prob be a few more points ahead. Conditions must be very hard to play in considering only 9 scores
