Maybe this has been covered before.....But, just out of interest....if you were to train in your back garden, and you were to get your hands on some improvised equipment, what would be on your wishlist (excluding conventional stuff like barbells, squat racks etc). Heres mine:

    1. A massive Tyre
    2. Sledgehammer
    3. Prowler
    4. Heavy kettlebell
    5. A beer keg or two
    6. A log to press or row
    7. Gymnastic rings
    8. A few heavy rocks
    9. Maybe a heavy anchor chain as well
    10. A bucket to get sick into ;)

And a tiny hot bird to flake the shit out of me before bench attempts á la Ryan Kennelly.

    And the ability to bench.

But yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I'd like some of those wall mounted ropes, few kettlebells and some form of running track..

a harness that you could attach to the car so you could pull it strongman truck pull style-not a big jump from just pushing it but you could then progress onto bigger loads

Good call....but you totally need the following as well:
    Some SAQ ladders
    Bosu ball
    Sprint parachute
    Airdyne pad
    Thigh master
    TRX system

Actually forget all that....just get a power plate and stick that in your backyard and you'll be awesome in just 5 mins a day.

If you have some space outside then a big pile of sturdy pallets are useful

    Used for sled drags

Used for jump training, and very handy for adjusting the height.

Used for pulling deads from diff heights from the floor, would place a strong sheet of ply on top for any impact lifts.

Can be used instead of safty bars on lots of lifts.

Can be used as a platform for lifting heavy objects onto.

Very handy, plus you can pick them up free from most yards that receive deliveries

Over the summer, I was broke so I trained with sandbags in my garden, playsand from Argos. You can do pretty much everything.

Benchpress: Put the sandbag in a backpack and do pushups.

Weighted Dips: Two chairs and sandbag in backpack.

    Weighted Step-Ups

    Pullup bar.

agreed - if your primary goal is to drop fat and get in shape then very very little equipment is needed.
