Get ill after eating/drinking certain things

This is a very strange condition for me.

Just today I drank some black tea and felt horribly ill after it. It was hours ago and I still feel pretty bad, not so ill it'd interrupt me doing most things but I'm getting worried I'm not getting better. I'm going to eat a big dinner now, hopefully that'll help.

I felt the same once after drinking a pint of Murphy's, though I did get the flu around then so it's hard to be sure(Though I could have gotten the flu because of my immune system being brought down too). Actually most alcoholic drinks tend to make me a bit ill, and some soft drinks.

I also can't eat most vegetables without feeling slightly ill, and will throw up if I try to eat certain things such as beans. I can eat most fruit though, more or less.

I'm concerned as there are a lot of things that should be healthy for me that I just can't eat. I have more or less no vegetables in my diet and any attempts to add them have failed miserable. In their solid form, I'm very sensitive to the texture and it destroys a meal for me, if I have a bad meal it just makes me eat more later until I feel satisfied, and of course I'll also feel slightly ill. Squished up I don't feel the texture but tend to get more ill. I've tried adding it to various sauces etc. some of the sauces that come with various veg thrown in I used to dice, some successfully others(usually Uncle Ben's) made me ill quite fast.

I have all kinds of weird reactions to things, certain drinks make me phlegmy, but not milk, certain kinds of chocolate bars will make me feel a bit nauseous. Cold lemon nearly always makes me phlegm up.

Also, when I do get this kind of ill, certain sounds and colours make it worse, very bright/saturated colours especially and certain sounds start to remind me of certain tastes, and of course most tastes make me naseous when I feel like this.

I should probably go to the doctor but I'm afraid of not being taken seriously. It's a pain though not being able to eat or drink what I want.

I have heard being overly sensitive to texture is a common side effect of aspergers, which explains that. I've also heard of a condition where you have far more taste buds than normal which can make certain tastes unbearable. Since I have poorer taste from sinus issues(I have almost no sense of smell), I may not notice most tastes but some may be still picked up.

Anyone have similar issues to me, and what did you do to get around it? I'm wondering if this could be largely linked to my sinus and maybe allergic reaction. I had blood tests done, they'll be back in a few weeks, got a CT scan coming up for the sinus too, but results could be a while for that.

I feel the exact same, and have struggled for a while with this. I finally have figured it out. See my last point about recipes.

One thing that jumps out at me is your lack of a sense of smell. This happens to me when I've had a few beers and it kills all of my sense of taste too. This means that I rely on texture completely and if something even feels off I feel ill immediately.

Do you on a day to day basis have no sense of smell? This means you also have little to no sense of taste.. therefore one would posit that you could eat such veg like green beans, asparagus, savoy cabbage - veg that have a firm texture and don't just mush into nothing.

I find carrots, turnips, parsnips, brussel sprouts, etc awful because of the way they taste/feel after being cooked to a certain point but they also have an unpleasant texture (I think). Raw veg works for me in that case.

I also think that a lot of it is your own sensitivity, in that you feel like it's going to make you sick, and then it makes you sick. You need to try different variations. What kind of recipes do you use with veg? I remember when I started my lower carb/higher fibre diet a while back, and one thing stuck with me. Veg are so boring and unappetising unless you dress them, or do them in an interesting, tasty recipe (just like everything else).

What kind of veg recipes do you eat?
