Hover Nextra 8 washing machine problem

    my washing machine model is hoover nextra 8, there was a bra wire caught inside the cylinder, so i disconected the under neath waste pipe and eventually got it out trough there, then when spining the drum there was still a noise so after a bit of fiddling about i have what looks to be some sort of rubber seal/pipe half way pulled out. can an can anyone confirm that is is just a seal, and how important is it really, ie if its not that important il rip it out rather than take the whole machine apart to replace it!??
