ump over-powered ?

Went on for a quick 15 minutes on the ps3 , 2 ffa 's ump silenced /m/l/n and p90 standard m/sp/n , granted i hadnt played on the ps3 in a while but i found the p90 just as effective as the ump.

been using the UMP for quite a while now and loving it. finding it just as effective as my M16. obviously a little more teadious over distance but it saves me carrying a shotgun for the upclose stuff

Ump is one of my favourite weapons , my point being that if one person says its over-powered then everyone jumps on the band wagon.

The 2 vids are just to show (imo) that the p90 is just as over-powered ?

I would say that most guns in mw2 are effective if your decent at the game like yourself. Im sure you could use any of the smg's/AR's or LMG's and still win FFA games.

The ump is a funny one, i think its the best SMG, but really.. there has to be a "BEST", if every gun was equal it would be boring and it would be impossible to have a completely balanced armory unless you kept all the stats the same. In some situations i'd say the p90 would be better tho.

Still, i think the Scar/M4/ACR and even the AK (Its slightly harder to control the recoil on i guess) are better all round guns than the UMP, at least imo they are.

Its different , not exactly sure how to describe it , the movement is slightly different . Sniping i find easier on the ps3 , where as i think the spas is much easier to use on the xbox.The lag is worse on ps3 .

The ump is silenced , the p90 is standard , less recoil on the ump , also since the ump is so over-powered i shouldnt need to use sp.

I haven't watched the vids cos Jewtube is blocked in work, but I've used both guns enough to know the difference.

The UMP is far, far superior to the P90 in every department except clip size.

You claim in the OP that "i found the p90 just as effective as the ump", but I'm saying thats only because you had SP on the P90. You even used the silencer on the UMP, didn't have SP and the P90 is still only "just as effective".

I don't know if its overpowered or not, but its definitely my "go to" weapon, and has been since 2nd prestige. I'll use new weapons when i'm in a soft lobby, or acting the bollox with the lads, but if i start getting whipped in a game I'll change to it.

Best gun in the game, imo.

Being honest i think this thread was you trying to justify your own over usage of the ump by saying it's not as overpowered as some make out.

It's the most over powered weapon in mw2, and no matter how you sugarcoat it, it'll remain that way.

Ask those i play with if i ever normally use it and they'll say no. I use it for a change, and the fact that i despise it makes it interesting.

Everyone on my team knows i don't like people using the ump, but there's nought i can really do about it. All i can do is try and convince them not to, but tbh i'd be wasting my breath.

i used the mp5 and the scar for the majority of last night . had no problem putting him down for the most part although there was a couple of sticky games in there . dont see what the big issue is

I can see your point about using different guns to mix it up, i'm different i tend to stick with the same 2 or 3 guns.
The ump is a great gun be it over-powered or not , my point in this thread (see second vid) would i have done better if i used the ump ? i dont think so.
Remember its just a game, its there for fun and enjoyment (i have to remind myself too at times). It could be worse i could be tubing with dc

I remember one specific kill you got on me and is the reason i despise the ump.

It was on estate up by the white stairs, i was one off a harrier. I saw you running along with lightweight if i'm not mistaken. I start shooting but unfortunately i get a hit marker ( my own ****e aiming ) and you spin around and put me down in a few bullets.

I actually lol'd. Good aim btw, but absolute bollox as i was one off a harrier.

I am a big fan of those types of weapons (as u can see in my videos) I think both weapons are pretty much at the same level.

The P90 makes up for its lack of power by having a bigger mag, better accuracy and faster fire rate. I consider the UMP like a portable Tar, same kinda kick and pretty decent power.

But the problem is that if u are using a p90 and come across another person using a UMP, in the same condition and if its a good player, u will loose most of the time.

My other favourite is the vector but that's no where close to the UMP nor the P90...

no ****e aim actually
havent played all week took me a few games to ge back into it . honestly i was just being a pri*k using it to wreck some heads on your team but for the most part i cant use it something about the recoil upsets my aim

@Bohrio not to be argumentive but seeing as me and shammy usually top the leader boards together that would make us pretty even players . i used an mp5 and he used a ump and i wasnt loosing most of the time . same when i use the scar or acr or whatever and this same chap puts me down (or fails to do so ) no matter what guns hes running

Comparative to CoD4, I always thought the P90 was kinda nerfed in MW2. Not saying it's horribly underpowered or anything, just seemed weaker.

Then again, I was never one for using SMGs too much, I was always an Assault Rifle kinda guy :cool:

The P90 is a bit weak IMO, was running it even with SPP and no silencer and it just seems to take ages to put someone down.

The Vector (with SPP, extended mags and Scavenger) is fairly beastly but the silenced UMP, with or without SPP, is the best SMG in the game.
It'll win an awful lot of 1 on 1s against ARs and is almost a must for Marathon classes.

I feel as Danny M said, that the P90 has been nerfed a little. Or maybe it seems that way in regards to the UMP. Not entirely sure.

As a fan of the Vector I can testify how awesome it is. But the downside isn't the power or anything, it's the clip size which has nothing on other two SMG's above.

+1, you're lucky if you can get 2 kills from the clip from my experience anyways. Extended mags and RDS all the way!

rate of fire in close quarter combat is unreal though if its a small map or your using it to cover corners you'l take most people on one on one . very effective outside of shotgun range for cqc. its a bit of a pain over distance but if your careful with some burst fire and aim for the chest you'l get some sweet headshots with it
