I was talking to a fella who said it was the ability to believe two conflicting thoughts at the same time – allowing them to be very diplomatic.

It's our ability to blame who the media tell us to blame. Our ability to always need a scapegoat. Someone must pay!!!

Our ability mouth off about everything that's wrong but unable to grow a pair of balls and actually do something. This could be something small like not complaining about poor service or something big like not overthrowing our government!

    Because we're emotionally retarded?

The propensity to ceaselessly self-analyze ourselves and our place in the world and the mistaken corollary assumption that the rest of the world is actually interested in it.

The fact that we are not arsed about doing anything except waste time complaining about that thing.

We are definitely the best begrudgers to be found anywhere.

Endless talking and arsing around. That's what has gotten us into so many shitstorms.

Sense of humour and the ability to continuously complain about their government but never, EVER take any real action against it.

    I like the duality.

A nice article on this very subject (if a little messy in the middle) about Irish neurolinguistics, and how Celtic minds helped form Quantum Theory.

Everything, we're a great nation, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else and I'm sick of people running down everything about our country. The only negative is the weather but if it's cold put on more clothes and if it's warm take them off again.....it's not rocket science

Our ability to take it on the chin and keep going, been doing that since the dark ages. Oh and the fact we can have a pint and chat/complain about how bad it was with eachother.

To be able to go to the pub at midday and tell everyone you'll be home legless and nobody bats an eyelid!

we're great conversationalists in general, the importance of being able to talk to and relate to people quickly is underestimated

    Is that still there though?
Have you seen two young men who don't know each other try to make conversation if one of them isn't into sports?

It's pretty stilted and awkward and will probably still end up talking about sports.

Possible, but at least they'll keep talking.
In most other countries, such a situation would only lead to awkward silence.

being fameous as the land of saints and scholars and being more articulate and able to spell properly is a good 1 as well

Again I'mnot sure this is true. Irish people have the same conversations over and over again and they really can't make conversation with someone different.

The propensity to adhere to the stereotype, like ya know.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Most Europeans don't take the idea that Ireland was the land of saints of scholars seriously and non-Europeans have never heard of it.

I think a lot of the 'two faced' people are on about is often just general conversation behind someone's back but is often a positive thing, two of my mates might talk about me and say, "Kfallon is better than that bird he's seeing" or "He needs to cop on with all the gargle". It's often just concern.

None of my mates would be vindictive cos if you hate someone why have anything to do with them??? My mates and family aside I don't give a flying fook what people think of me or what they say about me, I won't be losing any sleep over it tbh
