Well, I NEVER until today thought the parents had anything to do with Madeleines apparent disappearance, until reading the now release Truth of the Lie, by Goncalo Amaral.
I am now pretty much convinced that the parents either willfully or accidentaly contributed to her death and covered it up.
I also watched an amazing You Tube video of the sniffer dogs indentifying blood and cadavar scents in the hire car, the belongings and in the room, which was all verified by Amaral in his book.
A VERY gripping read, recommended, but I still dont think anyone will ever find out exactly what happened that night.

Haven't read the book but I do hold the belief that the parents were responsible for the child's death. Why would anyone nab a child from a holiday resort and smuggle her out of the country when they could have any number of kids who look the same and who nobody cares about from orphanages in Russia?

My father, a sargeant, said the mother was hiding something the first time he saw her on television..he knew straight away..its actually been sickening to watch the parents for the last couple of years, if they did it..

    Link to amazing youtube?

    Here

I was more convinced before I watched the documentary than having watched it.
    The Portuguese investigators seem sh1te.

The car boot being open all the time is curious, and the teddy bear washing is bizarre.
Also bizarre is leaving your kids in the manner they did.

Read the book in full here:

    Video here:

Edited to add that after reading the book you can see that the portugese investigators were in fact not as bad at doing their job as portrayed (by the British Media).

Anyone who is going to comment on the Madeleine McCann case should watch the film A Cry in the Dark first. there's nothing more annoying than the great unwashed offering their opinions on who done what and how as if they solve murders in their spare time.

I have not offered an opinion, merely referred to the content of the new book.
Any speculations as to HOW, WHEN, WHERE, etc the body or remains IF she IS dead are pointless - no one will ever really know the whole truth.
And it IS posted under the conspiracy thread.;)

I would find it hard to believe that people in a foreign country would be able to kill their child (accidently) and hide the evidence, not forgetting the body, without being caught.

It would be hard enough to do having planned it and knowing the area (where a body could be hidden) but in a foreign country where your knowledge of the surroundings would be limited I reckon it would be extremely hard.

There is no evidence at all that the McCann's were responsible for the disappearance of their daughter.

On what evidence are you convinced? You have just decided they are responsible based on absolutely nothing.

So how did she vanish unless someone took her? Somebody must have taken her.
There is no evidence her parents had anything to do with it.

I believe the McCanns were responsible insofar as they left their children unattended, but I don't think they killed her or knew she was going to be taken

Did she ever give a reason for washing the teddy bear? That's the strongest piece of evidence they have if it was the parents that did it IMO. Such a strange thing to do.

I agree, and the daughter either died or went missing as a result, to which the parents must accept full responsibility

Bed was stripped too, that and the sniffer dogs giving their evidence PLUS them finding out that Kate had called Gerry an hour after she was declared missing but on HIS phone records, there was no trace of the call as he had deleted them....They also REFUSED lie detectors.
The Gaspar couple's statements were pretty un- nerving though, here is a quote from the book:
After dinner on the third or fourth evening in Majorca, the friends are all settled on the patio. They are having a drink and chatting when K.G. witnesses a scene which flabbergasts her and makes her fear for the safety of her daughter and the other children. She is sitting between Gerry McCann and David Payne when she hears the latter ask if she - probably Madeleine - did “that”: he then puts a finger in his mouth and begins sucking it while putting it in and out - the sexual connotation is obvious - while with the other hand, he traces small small circles around his nipple in an explicitly provocative way.
Chapter 20 of the book, about the Irish man and son that SAW a man carrying a child that night, was CERTAIN the man was Gerry McCann, but the police over here took weeks to get a statement from him!

The author a long time police investigator/detective states:
The conclusions my team and I have arrived at are the following:
    1. The minor, Madeleine McCann died inside apartment 5A of the Ocean Club in Vila da Luz, on the night of May 3rd 2007;
    2. There was simulation of abduction.
    3. Kate Healy and Gerald McCann were probably involved in the concealment of their daughter’s body.
    4. The death may have occurred as a result of a tragic accident;
    5. The evidence proves the parents’ negligence concerning the care and safety of the children.

I have one belief here. No mother or father could ever dump their daughter's body. If a tragic happened I'm certain they would be too numb to act in anyway that would have seen them get away with murder for so long

Something was not right about these two from the start I always felt. Reports that they often gave the kids sedatives, especially Madeline was particularly disturbing. I suspect the child was overdosed accidentially and either had a Respiratory arrest or Aspirated, or indeed both may have occured. Incompetent policing let the two right of the hook unfortunately.

Your kid goes missing, the first thing you think is "well I better wash her teddy bear". All I asked is did she give a reason for this? There could of been blood on the teddy, who knows. It's just strange and I'm curious.

Blood can be still detected if it is washed off, especially on something like a fluffy teddy
And if you think about it, if they killed her i doubt blood was involved

Just did some digging, there was blood traces picked up by sniffer dogs.

"There is a unlocated dead body which was substantiated by the English dogs (EVRD - Enhanced Victim Recovery Dog; CSI – Crime Scene Investigation = dog that search and locate human blood even in very small amounts) and corroborated by the preliminary lab results."

"These evidences were found behind the seating room´s couch, beside the closet on the parents` bedroom, on a piece of clothing from Maddie, on the teddy bear (which was seen by all being carried by Maddie's little sister on the following days after the disappearance), on two pieces of clothing from Kate, on the car key and in the luggage compartment of the car that the parents rented several days after the disappearance."

Was this on a previous holiday? Does the author mean Portugal? If so, how can we rely on his investigation.

Yes, sorry, should have clarified - it WAS an earlier holiday.
Madeleine McCann is two and a half years old and the twins just a few months when they go on holiday to Majorca with their parents. Three couples and their children go with them: David and Fiona Payne with their one-year-old daughter (Fiona is pregnant with their second child); S. and T., with their two children aged 1 and 3; finally S.G. and K.G., who have a one and a half year old daughter, E. (K.G., is also expecting a child). The trip was organised by David Payne. The latter rented a villa big enough to accommodate all of them.

I've got my doubts about the McCanns to be honest, I wouldn't be convinced they're directly responsible, but I ceratinly don't trust either of them.
One thing always struck me as strange, their daughter had just been abducted, supposedly by a stranger, yet 2 days after they are on telly out for a walk, while their other kids are in a creche! Now if that was me, there is no way anybody outside my immediate family would be next or near my kids. Remember they are a well to do family, they could easily have flown the grandparents out or something like that.
I'm not offering it as evidence of anything, but it struck me as very very strange at the time.

Plenty of parents kill their children and dispose of the bodies.
    Parents murdering their children.

From what you have seen of her parents...do you think they could dump her body?

From what you have seen of them do you think they couldn't have?
They said they would take a lie detector, then refused, wouldn't answer questions, strange behaviour.

    Exactly!

Your not a detective are you?, Think about it.

My own thoughts "were" that they sedated Madeline so they could enjoy themselves with no hassle, it went wrong (she died) and they panicked.

Now I believe it was more sinister, its a whitewash and theres a cover-up.
Seems a lot of people in high places want to silence anybody who mutters anything about these child neglectors, in BOTH England and Portugal.

Take a look, freemasons, paedophiles and politicians.
    Some copy and paste.
David Payne, one of the McCanns’ friends that were on holidays in the Algarve on the 3rd of May last year, when Madeleine disappeared, was suspected of paedophile behaviours.
The accusations were brought by a couple of friends that spent their holidays with part of the group in the summer of 2005 – themselves also English doctors. Twelve days after the British girl disappeared, Katherina and Arul could no longer keep the secret that had bothered them for two years and went to the police to make a statement. They revealed two conversations between Dave and Gerry, during which both revealed suspicious behaviour and indiciated sex with minors.
The first one happened on a night when Gerry and Dave were talking about Maddie. Katherina does not know what they were saying but she remembers that Dave sucked on his fingers, pushing them into the mouth and pulling them out again, while his other hand traced a circle around the nipple, with a circular movement over the clothes. “That was done in a provocative manner”, recalls Katherina, who says that it stuck to her memory.

Why was there an entry against Dr Gerald McCann in the Child Abuse section of Leicestershire Police CATS system, and why is the entry now blank?
    http://gerrymccan-abuseofpower-humanrights.blogspot.com/2010/10/jim-gamble-resigns-from-ceop.html
These people have been protected by a ring of British politicians including Prime Minister Gordon Brown and those close to him, including a spin doctor, the Foreign Secretary, a government spokesperson and former Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Not only that, but politicians of the two British opposition parties and British members of the European Parliament also threw their public support behind the parents of Madeleine McCann, even while they were official suspects. The McCanns were recruited as child-protection ambassadors by British European members of parliament. Gordon Brown waded in, speaking directly to the Portuguese Prime Minister. The Portuguese police chief in charge of the investigation was mocked and threatened by the British, and after complaining about the interference he was sacked.

This may be one of those cases which will forever remain a mystery.
There is no real evidence that she was abducted - no trace of anyone having entered the apartment, or having left via the window which had been opened at some stage. In any case, the parents had left a door unlocked to save them walking the extra few yards. One witness claims she saw a man carrying a child, but there is no evidence this was Madeleine.

The fact that specialist highly trained dogs gave multiple alerts to the presence of the scent of a cadaver both in the apartment and to items belonging to the McCanns may or may not prove to be highly significant. DNA recovered from the apartment did not clarify to what the dogs had alerted. This is not particularly surprising. Unless a dead body has shed blood or other bodily fluids into it's surroundings then once the body has been removed all that remains is the specific scent which the dog then identifies. So in the absence of biological remains to explain those alerts, they remain at present 'unexplained'

My personal opinion is that when you are looking for a three year old girl, of whom there has been no trace whatsoever since the night she disappeared, with no witnesses to an abduction, and not a single confirmed sighting, then multiple alerts by a dog trained to find a human body is something which cannot be ignored, even if by the same token it cannot be explained

The insistence of the parents that Madeleine has not been harmed might be described as understandable, but I think most people would acknowledge that it is somewhat unrealistic to expect that your child, whom you insist has been taken by a predatory abductor, has remained unharmed.

It would seem that the obvious lesson is to never ever leave babies and young children exposed to danger as these were.

There's no evidence that anyone else was responsible either.

i say no way, the mccannes are innocent, the police fcked up and are covering their tracks, if this had happened here or england, they would have made headway, i pity the mom and dad, they are trying their best to find their daughter , and at the same time being accused of murder, i hope she is found and her captors are punished, jail would be too good for them for what they put this family through
