Jackie Skelly/Energie Price

Was just in the Energie gym in the Oval in Ballsbridge and they quoted 220 euros for 3 months and 440 euros for 6 - cash in advance. I've heard the stories about Jackie Skelly so I said no direct debit. This is with no joining fee and includes membership of all their gyms.

Has anyone gotten a better offer from them? The girl I was talking to said that's the lowest price. I'm probably gonna hit up the one on Clarendon Street to see what they say.

I'm based on Upper Baggot St so looking for a gym within 10 min walk. Any suggestions apart from Sportsco and Energie?

I think i might have got 450 for a year with gold membership (you can go to any of their gyms). Up front.

A little tip: if you go to their gym with the least facilities or no swimming pool- like Clarendon which you are doing (or one in Navan, I think) they will give you a much lower price.

€220 for 3 months? Seems very expensive.
Thats a years membership in some gyms

Was with the one in Parkwest for years. Joined just after it opened and was paying around €58 per month. Every now and then they'd put it up by a €1 a month, which used to annoy the hell out of me. But it was so handy location wise so let it pass. Then found out that you could get a better deal if you paid up front. Around €200 a year cheaper, plus they offered a towel per visit. That was fine for about a year until they started charging for the towels. Cancelled membership about a year ago.

I wanted to get back into the gym so this time I shopped around a bit. They were offering €47 per month (which works out at €564 per year) but they said they weren't offering any yearly/pay up front deals. Thought it was too expensive so went to the gym at Liffey Valley who were offering €350 per year. That's some difference. Better equipped gym too, although the dressing rooms are a bit dilapidated.

molygunn, slightly OT but i have to say, i'm a member of energie/JS in the oval for the past 3 yrs and i'm really happy with it.. they have a great list of classes, it's always spotless, and the trainers are great (i've used 2 of the PTs there).. it's not often you hear praise for JS so i just wanted to put that out there! I've never had to wait for a threadmill/other machines and while it does get busy on mon-wed evenings, not as much as other gyms i've been in...

    thumbs up from me.

aside from that- there's sportsco as you say, but it's not quite as close- altho cheaper. there's markiewitz (sp?) near tara st that is also cheap and not a gazillion miles from you, but it's grotsville.

Sorry to bump up an old thread but did you ever get the price quote for Energie on Clarendon? Was thinking of joining but they won't actually quote their prices on the website at all, which I find extremely suspicious.

Thanks for the info. Jackie Skelly does seem to be well run and clean, and Markievicz is indeed absolutely manky

Kitty-kitty: I did. Usual sales patter like I was getting a special price but 6 months was still 400 euros. I'm pretty sure they wanted an extra 25 euros admin fee for the privilege of using they're new fingerprint system, too. The gimps.

Anybody know how much the monthly membership is to use more than one gym? I live near the one in Swords but would also like to use the pool in Clarendon Street on my lunch breaks.
