What doses to start someone on with vitamins and fish oil?

My ma has fibromyalgia (its like arthritis in the muscles), we looked into it a bit and I'm going to order her some fish oils/omega 3's, D3 and K2, and I'm trying to get her on a low carb diet avoiding peppers, tomatoes and other foods she reacts badly to. What sort of dosage should we start the vitamins and stuff on? You can get 5000IU tablets of D3, is one sufficient, are there any negatives to starting on a high dose like this versus starting with 1000IU's and progressing higher as time goes on? What about K2 and fish oil, these are responsible for neural health and controlling inflammation respectively as I understand it so are important for controlling fibromyalgia, what sort of dose should a person start with, again any negatives to starting on a fairly high dose?

btw if anyone's concerned about the medical implications of this thread she was diagnosed by a doctor with the condition, the only medical treatment for it is an anti-depressant and these vitamins and fish oils as you might expect are not promoted, so we have to figure this issue out ourselves.

    thanks for the help.

ps, this site seems to be pretty well priced compared to some stuff on iherb; http://www.puritanspride.co.uk/d-vitamins-cid-534.html?%20SCID=TPUKGPD&gclid=CMvrkc6x2qQCFYxH4wodLVwYLA#

anyone used them before or have anything positive or negative to say about them?

Hi brian, my mother suffers from fibromyalgia too, she also suffers from athritis but thats a side point. unfortuntly I cant help really on doses of vitaimns, mum was trying the Morepa brand of fish oils since June and unfortunatly she hasnt seen much improvement. she takes calcichew calcuim tablets which have 400iu daily of d3 and again she hasnt seen much improvement. our gp is fairly comfortable with people trying supplements etc to see if they help conditions, and has told mum that while fish oils etc work for some people others dont see any improvement, its just a case of trial and error.

    sorry i couldnt help more

Why not look up PUBMED and see if there are studies showing if vitamin supplements or fish oil help a sufferer?

Instead of buying stuff of people who sell non-medicine cures to people without any evidence of it working?

I didn't think I'd have to specific 'useful advice only' but.....useful advice only please.
