So... first ten names will be announced on Tuesday, at which point 1,000 "early bird" tickets will go onsale for €99.

I'll probably get my ticket regardless. Can always sell it on if I can't go for whatever reason. Or if the lineup isn't great, but that's unlikely to be the case. :)

Any rumours? Wanna know what bands will be around festival season.

99euro seems ridiculously cheap! Does that mean there's no camping area for people? Last year's line-up was amazing.

Theres no camping, its beside a metro line and a bus line into the city centre. last year they kept the €99 price until January, this 1000 allocation is new

Haven't a clue tbh. Usually whoever is playing Coachella gives a solid indication but they've been announcing Primavera acts progressively earlier each year.

They said there will be a big announcement in a fortnight. Rumour mill says David Bowie!

Tix were €99 til Dec 31st last year, they're not being so generous this year.

Yeah, and with the success of this past summer's edition* and the attention the event is getting in the media outside of Spain, there is less incentive for the organisers to sell tickets at these low price points. The "early bird" prices used to run through to the year of the actual festival.

    * = I don't think this year was a complete sell out, but it was close. Day tickets for Friday (the day Pixies played) had sold out afaik.

It is a running joke that Bowie is rumoured each year.

ha ha  saw it on a few message boards and thought there might be something in it.

€99 tickets bloody sold out! Now €115.

€99 tickets bloody sold out! Now €115.

And there's a ticket limit of 1,000 on those as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

Second batch of tickets are sold out in a snap too. Now tickets are priced €130 for two weeks. By this rate it will cost almost whatever the full price was after presales by next year.

New UK ATP event in Minehead for next May was announced there, less than two weeks before Primavera. Wouldn't mind seeing Animal Collective, Meat Puppets and The Frogs on the lineup!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭indiewindy

Yeah, should get a good few of those atp bands playing it, the national are playing Portugal a few days before prima so could be a good bet, got my ticket, still no receipt yet

Snap! Pulp, I can't believe it. I probably will go to this now seeing as I'll be living in Spain at the time :D

Is there camping at it or what? How much are tickets? My Spanish is poor!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭indiewindy

Tickets are €130 plus booking fee until November 15, then they will probably rise to €140 or €150 which going by earlier years should be the max price, no camping allowed.

Don't know much Pulp myself (apart from Common People) so I'm a little indifferent to them being added. I'll give Different Class a proper listen. Didn't know they been going since the late 70s!

Last entry of the year and the latest on the festival. We are still working on the last details of the line up which will be ready by the end of January. Maybe we will keep some slots open to programme later and make the most of our annual date with SXSW. Meanwhile we are mainly focused on improving the production and on getting rid of any problems from previous editions. As I already told you there will be changes in the position of the stages in order to improve the circulation around the festival site. The news is that we will see the birth of a new stage that will be mainly for new bands. It is in a brilliant place, very close to the sea and I think that those of you who enjoy concerts where the public is closer to the artist will love it. And as a promise is a promise and I gave my word that I would reveal the programme of the Wednesday night in the Poble Espanol as soon as possible I can, unofficially, reveal that another of the guest artists that night will be Echo & the Bunnymen who will play their first two records back-to back. But as I said this is unofficial. We will be back with more confirmations mid-January. Happy New Year to you all.

    Gabi

Echo and the Bunnymen... deadly. :)

Looks like most of the remaining lineup will be announced within the next month. Strange that he mentions that there will a new stage for new bands by the sea... doesn't that fit the description of the Addidas stage last year?

Yeah it's solid. I think it bests the lineups of the last two years.

What's the story with PJ Harvey live these days, does she play with a band or solo or what?

The line up has got even better, think I'll have to go. If I can sort out good accomodation first I'll make a booking.

Thinking of going to this but haven't been before. So there's no camping at all? You just stay somewhere nearby?

if your doing some hotel research post up any findings here,
I see tripadvisor have a 5 star hotel for 70 euro a night, suits me sir.

Any chance of posting up the name of the place then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,035 ✭✭✭homerun_homer

I was at this fest last year but didn't book the apartment. A heads up on that 5 star for 70 would be great. Fancy splashing out:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 460 ✭✭KeanSeenan

Strongly considering going to this, it will be my first festival so some questions to get my friends interested.
    1) Do you have to get an apartment yeah?No camping type thing no?
    2) Are the two venues far from each other?
Thought I'd have more questions, oh well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭Toast

You need an apartment. The second venue wasn't operating last year but Google puts it at a 9km drive. I've been in the area before and it with metros and everything it is a good 30 to 40 mins away.

Considering going to either Primavera or Benicassim this summer? can anyone whose been to both give me a list of pros and cons for each?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 ali_lee

Just booked my ticket! Was at Sziget 2 years ago and I really loved it, European festivals in the sun are the way to go after experiencing mud and rain at EP and Oxegen. Never been to Primavera though, I was thinking of just slumming it and booking a hostel as opposed to a 5-star hotel... anyone ever done that before and any recommendations on places close by?
Girl Talk swung it for me... can't wait to see Greg Gillis live!! Not to mention Animal Collective, The Flaming Lips, Grinderman, PJ Harvey, Fleet Foxes, Mercury Rev...
    Oh wow :)

Been to both, didn't Camp at Benicassim so can't give you the overall feel of it. We stayed in Valencia and got a €5 bus home each night/morning. Valencia/Benicassim was great. It was nice and small between all the sages and loads of grassy parts to sit and laze around at. Vibe was good all around but there was a lot of druggy/scummy types around outside, snorting coke and shooting up as we left.

Primavera was great last year. It's a bigger set up than Benicassim and more concrete but there's a lot more on offer there, more stages including and indoor theatre. It's in the city so not far away from where you'd be staying but you wouldn't want to get stuck without a bus or taxi depending where you are as it can be a long walk home.

Does anybody know if they'll show the Champions League final on the saturday night?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 532 ✭✭✭Mickolution

Does anybody know if they'll show the Champions League final on the saturday night?

They were supposed to show it at one of the preshows two years ago, but didn't in the end. Think it was some sort of rights issue.

If Barcelona are in it, I'm sure they'll have big screens up in the city. In 09, they had them down by the harbour. It was good fun down there, but the crowd was far too big for the area. I was quite worried during it that there'd be a crush. The city went mad after it with cops firing rubber bullets and stuff getting smashed up. Pickpocketers were out in force that night too, so be careful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭indiewindy

Looking at their forum, there is basically no chance of them showing the final on big screen due as earlier poster states to licensing problems, pity that the final is going to clash with the fest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 379 ✭✭DoubleJoe7

Really want to see the CL final - anyone know a bar near the site that will show it?

I booked into a hostel for the festival- no 4-star hotels for me sadly! Its called the Be Hostel Sound (or something to that effect), anyone know it? Or have any thoughts/advice on spanish hostels in general? I've heard not-so-good reports but I've hostelled a lot in Europe and elsewhere so hopefully can't be TOO bad... tips much appreciated!
