Hey I just though this might help someone and mayve keep me going in recovery

Anyway so 4 weeks ago I dislocated my knee playing rugby. My knee cap went to the external side so my right leg the knee went right as i look down on it.

I was in a cast for 3 weeks.
Standard white plaster cast first week but when the swelling went down there was so much room my knee came out again in the cast. So got a new one. Same type
The week after same problem and before it came out I got a new fiberglass one that was extra tight.

Here are soem pics for a story line

Just after it happened... who needs friends!

Hey OP - Ive had HUNDREDS of dislocations, going back since I was a 12 year old and Ive been through 2 knee surgeries (Im currently 2 years dislocation free - yeaa!!).

Anyway - I got a lot of help on www.kneeguru.co.uk - its a site specifically for people with knee issues, you get a lot of useful and practical advice there but more importantly its great for a rant with people who can relate to you!!

Best of luck with the recovery - the first dislocation is always the worst lol!!!

Clint Eastwood(esque) at being pissed about them cutting your new leggings! Priorities etc!:D

Best of luck with it all. I know not the same thing but if Herman Maier can make a recovery to olympic level after being an hour from losing it - you can definitely come back stronger and better than before the injury.

I would be very rigorous with the exercises - it's amazing how much atrophy can happen in just a few weeks!

When out of cast perhaps pool exercises would be good.

    Sausage.
Best of luck with recovery. I dislocated both my knees, the right last year and the left when i was fifteen. Its a long road, but you will get there. i done a cruel rehab in the gym, last year after i got the go ahead from the physio and i'd strongly advise it, at least 3 times a week. Another tip would be to measure both legs every two weeks as this will show that you are making progress and gives you extra motivation.

Thanks for all the wishes and tips guys!

Yeh physio has started and now I have over 90 degree bend and no more limp when i walk. Stairs is a breeze. The only problem is now that the swelling has gone down I get alful sharp pains on the sides of the knee when i like move at a angle when sitting or try and drag my foot to the left. I have been told this is normal but the pain is the worst since i got the cast off.

I have a excerside sheel from the hospital i will scan and put up. Usual things like raises extensions bends etc.

I have been told to hit the static bike at max hight and work my way down adding more pressure on the bend.

My physio was a bit worried about the face you could not see my right knee twitch when i flexed it.

As for the "chunky" legs comment :) i have to admit my legs are like stone no joke. Prob because i love squats but if i do a crude pinch test on the left to my right there is a massive difference! So much so my gf wont let me do it for people anymore :) she says its revolting. Dunno if its just my legs though

    Anyway thanks

    x
