Can someone recommend a health way to flavour water?

    Hi,

I don't like drinking plain water so i end up not drinking enough. I am also trying to cut out sugary drinks and drinks with additives.

Is there anything health and handy that can be added to water to give it flavour.

always put a dash of lemon or lime juice in my filtered water gives it a bite very refreshing in the summer.

there are fruit teas out there, you boil up the water , add the bags and back in the fridge when its cooled. Havnt had them in a while so cant remember if there are any nasties in them.

the main drink in our house is 1/3rd apple juice and 2/3rds water, not the worst compared to the junk you see in the supermarket.

Buy a lime and some fresh mint.
Cut up the lime into small wedges.
Get an ice-cube tray and put 1 piece of lime & 1 mint leaf in each square, top up with water & freeze - lovely fresh flavour for your water.

It's also a good thing to do after you've cooked a recipe using lemon, lime or mint- very frugal!

Some good suggestions there thanks for that.

I'm trying to cut down on caffeine also.

I'll give each of them a try to see which is nicest.

Lots of fruit teas are flavoured with the same kinds of flavourings they put in robinsons and miwadi, but I think they're fine anyway.

If you just have a bottle of water on you all the time you end up drinking it out of boredom and habit.

    I'll second the lime...

The mother always makes ice-water in the summer in a pewter jug with a few slices of lime and a mint leaf steeped in it... It's my favourite non-alcoholic drink.

try putting lots of cucumber and ice into a jug, its really lovely and refreshing,

I also sometime pour a little cranberry juice into water to give it a nice flavour
