Watching this live now .There president spoke for about 20 minutes.I think they are more interested in the PR then getting the poor guys to the surface.
The Chileans have one of the worst mining safety records in the world.
Still it is amazing to watch

Yeah, it was so obvious that what the President said was scripted, even what he said in English.

    Oh my god.

Sky actually have a 0 of 39 miners rescued in the top corner of their screen, which will tick up each time a miner comes out.

Absolutely cringeworthy, they truly are The Sun of "news" channels.

Have they been breeding down there? I thought there was only 33 of them.

When I saw it I knew they must have considered having 39 little miner icons across the top of the screen, with each coloured green or red depending on whether the miner lived or died. Maybe accompanied by a cheering or a groaning noise. Probably just as well it is only a ticker - I bet they get confused by a rescue worker coming up and they end up with a total of 41 out of 39 miners rescued.

Don't worry, folks. Its going to take an hour to get each one out, so I guess we'll all be bored sick by the time the last ,and probably best, release will happen.

Last man up will be one of the paramedics or other engineers that they send down first.

First man up is apparently going to be Florencio Avalos who has been the cameraman for them down the mine, his brother is also down there as well.

    they do everything together,
eat, drink, get trapped under ground,,,

They should greet the Chilean Miners dressed up as the "Planet of the Apes". :D

The first task for the Chilean miners after their release, is to visit Anfield and teach Roy Hodgson how to get out of a big hole before Christmas.

I see Sky News have a 'Chilean Miners Saved' counter in the top left hand corner of the screen.

Reminds me of that Lemmings game.

Surely Jonjo the Miser should be compering this thread and giving a running commentary on each miner's appearance and personality. Apparently the 19th miner out is going to do a fine rendition of Black is the Colour.

In what sense is it amazing?

I heard on the news earlier that they would be 'taking out the most experienced, then the weakest, then the strongest'.

I don't understand the reasoning behind that.

Just remember chicos: what happened in the mine, stays in the mine
