    Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone uses these? I got one today and will be curious to see how (well?) it will work.

(Mods, not sure if I'm allowed to post the link?)

I'm looking into getting one as well.

There seems to be a huge fuss regarding them so that's why i'm intrigued.

Price is a bit steep, but i'm tempted.:o

Beyond a placebo effect, it won't do anything.

Have a look at this thread, especially the video in the last post.

My curiosity began last weekend. A friend of mine picked one up and was trying it out. On sunday we were both out sailing together and he said that he noticed an increase in his balance. I didnt really dig any further after that thinking he was spouting rubbish but afterwards I wanted to try it out and he did the power balance 'test' on me and it actucally worked (same results as the videos on the PB website). I didnt see the videos online till after he did the test on me as well.

I'm a pretty sceptical person at the best of times but he seemed to be very positive about it. I got one yesterday but will probably have to wait until after the weekend to have a definite opinion on them. Theres a 30 day money back on them so I'm going to return it if I think its a placebo. €30 is steep enough so i will be leaning towards returning it if I think its a gimick.

I will admit though that the idea of a hologram helping the body doesn't really sit well with me (Sounds like a complete scam!) but the test he did on me peaked my curiosity....

You mean the one becks is getting paid to wear... I've been paid to wear things, doesn't mean I use the product or that it has any effect on my performance.

Back to the OP, save your cash and don't bother. The 'tests' are rubbish. If you do want to improve balance there are a bunch of exercises that will get you results. The bands are just a pretty gimmick, the stuff that works is never as shiny as the magic bullet.

Lookit, this was posted in the other thread

The balance band is a hologram in a silicone bracelet. The "balance test" is BS, a sticker on a bracelet can not stop gravity making you fall if you're pushed. Here's some more on the "technology". This makes me sad :'(:(.

Yes, it is hard to believe how they could work, i agree.. however, they look cool, and the placebo effect is not to be underestimated! 2 girly comments if ever there were some i know... so, going back to my Q, anyone know where i can buy one? (am a marketers dream- but it's not like €30 will send me under either like:))

Erm.. looking at the video posted above this isn't a placebo effect, but simple physics at play. The demonstrations are rigged to give a good show.

If you want to improve your balance then stand on one leg, if you want to improve strength lift some weights, and if you want to improve flexibility stretch ;)

This thread reminds me of the epsiode from the Simpsons with the bear patrol.

    Can't find the video..

Homer: Well, there's not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol is sure doing its job.
    Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad.
    Homer: Thank you, sweetie.
Lisa: Dad, what if I were to tell you that this rock keeps away tigers.
Homer: Uh-huh, and how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn't work. It's just a stupid rock.
    Homer: I see.
Lisa: But you don't see any tigers around, do you?
Homer: Lisa, I'd like to buy your rock
