Someone I know has claimed that women can't whistle...

You know the way that some people will randomly whistle?
No tune, just random incoherent 'I'm an annoying fucker who is raping your ears with my attempted birdsong' whistling.
Well I was pointing out that apart from the fact it makes me want to punch them in the back of the head, that it is never women who do this.

They countered by telling me that women can't whistle.

Can you whistle? (you don't have to be good at it, just the ability to do so)

Yes, I can whistle & I'm a female.
I often try whistling along to a song (when at home) but never works out well, just sounds like i'm trying to drown a cat or something! It also confuses my puppy when I whistle songs, he thinks I'm calling him even if he's sitting next to me, so I try not to.

I've heard being able to whistle, is just like being able to curl your tongue it's in your genes. This could be complete boll*x though.
