Is there any difference between sodium nitrite in processed meat and sodium nitrite that occurs naturally when eating vegetables? And has it ever actually been shown to cause cancer?

To me it seems like the author is just trying to get publicity for himself/his website

General comment on that website - quackery, woo and conspiracy theories. For example I see they are selling this https://web-purchases.com/THC/WTHCL503/landing.html

Having said that, there may be a grain of truth to that article about processed meats and cancer. There is a theory in mainstream science and epidemiology that they may contribute to gastric cancer. Gastric cancer incidence has been dropping for decades and it is thought that this may be related to refrigerators becoming commonplace, reducing the need for curing of meats.

Too general and arbitrary for me to take seriously.

Talk of a link between processed meats and cancer isn't really a new one. There will be an article in the paper about it quite often

will that stop me having bacon with my eggs? Probably not, but i probably wouldn't be eating cheap processed meats over proper cuts either

+1:D and in the absence of killable mammals look out for actual meat content per 100g.. tbh I dont see the point in eating some of the over processed crap out there with very low meat content.
o/t - i got 3 (huge) cooked chicken breasts in the english market in Cork on Friday €3 total:):D
