    hi all,

I have lost over 9 stone in 2 years and still have about 4 more to go( yeah I know major whale!!) but I am on a standstill and need a boost, I have only lost half a stone in the past 3 months - yeah I was on hols for 2 weeks but I am really disappointed and have been eating like a horse all this week.

I have lost this weight through eating healthy etc.. so I know all the rules etc..., I am now x stone and 10 lbs - would love to loose this 10lb to get motivated again and get back on the weight loss horse and stop eating like one!!

    Any help advice greatly appreciated

You lost NINE stone??? Way to go. Stop beating yourself up, that's a major achievement. Don't knock it, and don't knock yourself.

I'm not a huge fan of that this "Believe it and you can be" stuff, but calling yourself names will only make you feel bad.

At this stage of weight loss, it slows down a lot. You are not going to see the same rate of loss as early on, and expecting it will just depress you. Instead, I would try focusing on the fitness aspect. After losing nine stone, you should find you can take part in sports you never even considered before, so perhaps instead of obsessing about the scales, you find a fitness goal.

Maybe decide to get a yellow belt in taekwondo? Or run a 5k? Or do a 50kg deadlift?

As for a quick 10lb, a low carb diet will often do that. Just be aware that some of the weight is water, but use the motivation.

First of all, congratulations on this fantastic achievement, losing 9 stone is I'm sure no easy feat and takes phenomenal will power and huge dedication. I bet your family and friends are absolutely delighted for you.

Work out your new BMR and work out your activity level and reduce your daily requirements by 750Kcal and you will get a steady fat loss of 1.5 pounds a week. I'm sure you probably know the drill all ready, if you don't, just say ask and i'll explain all. As Eileen already suggested, up your fitness activities. You say you still have 4 stone to lose so i'm guessing you'd still struggle at things like kick boxing, karate, kettle bell sessions etc. Maybe i'm wrong on this please correct me if I am. Anyway, i'd suggest on going on long walks of say 3-4 hours in the country side if you can. This is great exercise and easy to do, just plug in the ipod and away you go, walk all day and admire the scenery. Works for me anyway, great way of clearing the head, gets you out of the house and gets you thinking positively. Break your meals into 6 meals a day.(you're probably doing this anyway). Try get 80% of your calories from proteins and fats. Try to limit carbs to having post/pre exercise. If you have'nt already, try cut all junk out of your diet. I know some people disagree with this and say you should have cheat meals and cheat days but I don't think there neccessary. My 'cheat' meals are actually healthy, a few squares of 85% dark chocolate and a glass of red wine every 3/4 nights. When I say all junk, I mean try, (95% of the time anway) not to eat anything processed. If you stick to this rule, you can't go wrong. Everything that's bad is processed - sugary snacks, pre-made meals, sugary cereals, buscuits etc. I always think of treating my body like a car. If you had a petrol car, you would never give any it diesel. Say if you gave it 95% petrol and 5% diesel. Your car would probably still run. Would it run to its maximum potential? Hell no. Would you be doing the car damage? Most definetely. I always link this to my body. My body is the car. Healthy, naturual, non processed food is the petrol and the junk, processed food is the diesel. It's just a mentality I've built in my head and it works for me and keeps me clear of junk food all the time. So the next time your offered junk food just think of it as putting a small bit of diesel into your petrol run car... what the hell is the point. Anyway iv'e got to stop rambling on and get to bed...sorry if i've bored the life out of you, just sharing what works for me. Good luck!

well done, that is 4.5 stone per year and is excellent progress:) however, you mention yourself that you have started eating like a horse - STOP! I know its easier said than done but once you get back on track with healthy diet and plenty (varied) exercise, including weights if possible then the scales will tip in the right direction for sure

I think its pretty inevitable when someone has lost that much weight to get this slump in motivation. I mean you obviously are a very hard worker to lose all that so now you have 2 choices

    1)
Sit down, list out your goals, and break them into little ones. Also make a list of how GOOD it feels to have achieved a 9 stone loss and know that the 10lbs is well within your ability and reach
    or

    2)
Carry on as you are, not quite off the wagon but not on either. Its a miserable limbo and does you no good mentally.

And please, dont call yourself a whale, have more respect for yourself. You just had weight to lose and you did and will.

thanks all, today was a fresh start, so far have ate healthy and went for an hours walk - new week, new start that 10lb is going and the rest will follow.

Made 3 different types of soup, have them all popped in freezer so lunch is sorted for a while and am going back of bread and back onto my melba toast

That sounds like a great start. Well done to you. Can i ask, the 9stone that you lost was that through healthy eating and exercise?

to be quite honest Dixie, it was due to healthy eating - and not depriving myself if I felt like something. I have tried EVERY diet out there and 2 years ago I made a vow not to go on a "diet".

My normal daily food intake would be:

Brekkie - none - I know I know so bad for you not to eat brekkie but I just can't stomach it and would normally eat a yoghurt at around 10-10:30

Lunch - a homemade soup and melba toast(if wanted)

Dinner - whatever everyone else is having - although I have boosted the veg intake big time - and cut down on spuds - I make a huge pot of spuds at the weekend and freeze portions - in this pot I would add a bag of frozen cauli - therefore not getting all the spuds carb etc..

Snacks - would be perhaps a cracker or some cheese/tuna/salmon/prawns

And my rule is if I want a choccie biscuit/bag of crisps etc. I will have one - cause if I don't I would be liable to head for the shop and get a 5 pack of twix or something!! To be fair I don't have biscuits in the house but i do always have a tin of celebations somewhere - I will eat one or 2 and bang craving gone - and I would have a bag of snax in also only 98 calories but again taking the craving away

Its my way and not ideal but its working so far for me - like a said I just needed to give myself a swift kick up the hole.

I HATE excerise - but I was doing the vibraplate, swimming and walking a BIT I wrote off my car on 31/12/09 and my back and shoulders are in tatters so my excerise is limited as I get very bad pain and I hate all the medication I am on

Snap!! I gac uo diets as well this year and you are right, it makes all the difference!

With the exercise, do you hate it cos you carried so much weight for so long? Exercise is so vital for even general well being and your mood, id urge you to keep doing something until you get into a routine of it.

I would say that mild exercise/stretching is the only way your back will get better. I had whiplash for three months and it only went away when I started exercising

I know, the stretching helps when the physio does it a few times a week - but leaves me in bits for days - anyone got a new back, neck and shoulders for sale????

I will give you a brief outline of my life at the mo, I live in the midlands and spend 4-5 days a week in Dublin as my mother is been treated for lung cancer so I am effectively keeping 2 households going, trying not to let my parents or my husband down. I just need to get a handle on time management - I do try to get a walk in and have build up from just a few mins to an hour - now it is at a slow pace but I will keep trying to improve that.

Hoping to get back on the vibraplate - there is one up near my parents so I will try that as its short excerise.

Anyone know of any pools in and around west Dublin that have good deals, the one I use in the Midlands is €9 a session and to be honest after been made redundant, keeping the bills paid and diesel in the car there ain't much left out of the stamps money
