    Some conflicting opinions on this here but here is the question

    from going from a diet full of (in order of most consumed) bread, potatoes, chips, rice, pasta) to none of these, replacing with (again in order of most consumed) eggs, chicken, veg tuna, fruit, beef.

    will my body 'hold on to fat', or should i lose fat?

    just need to get rid of that last couple of pounds..

    Going from a high carb diet to a high protein diet should help you lose weight no problem.

    The protein in the diet makes you feel fuller for longer too so you shouldn't need to eat as much calories. I'd advise getting some 'good' fats in there too - such as unsalted nuts or peanut butter (the good stuff such as that you get in Halland and Barrett).

    You could use MyFitnessPal.com to track your calories if you don't drop weight after a couple of weeks. They've also got an iPhone app if you've got an iPhone.

    If you are eating too much, no diet will work. But it's a lot easier to reduce calories on a lower carb diet without feeling hungry, so it's easier to eat the right sized portions.

    I always find it frightening the amount of calories in anything with bread, and that's before you toast it and melt in a lot of butter.
