I saw that as well but need to point out something that bugs me about all these live extending drugs. The human life span is already extended beyond its natural span by about 30-40 years so all these wonder drugs of which there is many are gonna do sfa.

Why is it that all these studies are on mice and rats.

We are not mice or rats.

Was just going to say that whey supplementation for rats is not what it's cracked up to be. If I get up to 200g protein a day, will some extra BCAAs really make a difference?

I read some "life extension manual" before that was raving about the miracles made possible just by taking arginine alone. Just one little AA, like, being talked about like it was as good as taking GH. If only...

We share a lot of similarities with rats. The usual process is rats first, human trials second. Rats are cheaper and more controllable than humans. ;)

I had a conversation with a guy last year who works for pharma companies - securitises patents for them. He told me that his clients say that there are children alive today who will live to be 1000 years old.

Don't forget rhesus monkeys. It's just not science without the familiar smell of burning rhesus monkey.

Seriously though, how does this fit in with the calorie controlled diet which I believe has been shown to extend the life of non-human primates?

They're a good model for study we share a lot of cellular traits with them and their life span is significantly shorter.

Post was tongue in cheek to an extent because usually the media are so down on "protein powders" and "creatine". This was some positive PR for supplements. As an aside I think glutamine has been reported as being very good for people with stomach problems - ulcers etc. Lifting weights is actually very good for your digestive system as well - a gastro consultant told me that years ago and I thought he was a quack.
