Its great to see Cage Warriors make the movie to Ireland and Cork.

But is this not a little disrespectful putting on a show about 100Km away from an already advertised promotion on the same night.

Surely 'cut throat' actions like this will only harm Irish MMA not improve it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 724 ✭✭✭Martin Walker

This is a great oppertunity for the established Irish pros to make a name for themselves on the European scene.
Cage Warriors is one of the biggest followed and most respected MMA promotions around.

With all due respect i was only made aware of another show on that date in Ireland yesterday. The entire Cage Warriors team have spent the last few weeks putting the touches to the show in London last Friday, knowing we would move onto the Ireland show straight after it.

But the November 27th date has been pre-booked for sometime and we notified certain fighters, our production crew and officials in advance of this. So to say it's cut-throat is a little harsh, especially as the other promotion seems to have a full announced fightcard for this date and i'm sure they already have numerous ticket sellers already out there hyping that show.

This past weekend in England there was 5 shows (that i know of) and our event was within 100km of another show which took place the next day and both show were seemingly a success.

I don't profess to be au fait with the Irish MMA scene but i would imagine we would have a very different card and experience to any other shows held on that date and we certainly wouldn't be acting in a "cut throat" like manner whilst promoting our event. It wasn't our nature before and it certainly isn't now. After all we have had in the past other UK events like Ultimate Force and Cage Rage clash with us in the past and our we all held our own.

I look forward to this. What I almost look forward to as much though is the outrage on Prendeville when the "god love us" types hear of it.

As we all know by now that Cage Warriors will hold there CWFC 39 event in Cork (Ireland) which will take place on November 27th 2010. We have just got word that Cage Warriors will be holding some prelim AMA and B class Pro fights to warm up the crowd and are looking for fighters to take part on the preliminary card. This is a great chance for some up and coming local fighters to showcase there skills in one of the top promotions in Europe. There will be a 32ft Cage as well as UFC fighters in attendance.

The undefeated Irish prospect Joe Duffy (7-0) Signs with Warrior Promotions and will fight next at Cage Warriors 39: The Uprising. Rated 2nd earlier this year by Sherdog.com in their Top 10 Undefeated European Prospects, this 22 year old will look to show why he is so highly regarded after his brief stint on TUF 12.

Lawrencesummers, your knowledge seems to be of the highest level in MMA, spotting a fighter that is announced as 7-0 when he lost in the TUF house.

Alloow me to teach you and add to your knowledge of MMA, The fights in TUF are classed as exhibtion fights, and are not entered on a pro fighters record.

So yes the Undefeated Joe Duffy will be fighting on CWFC 39, the biggest Irish prospect our country has to offer ....... maybe instead of trying to educate people in mma with your HUGE amount of knowledge you should try getting behind our own to help grow the sport

Any other questions you'd like answered ?

sorry i didnt get it, i didnt realise that TUF was an exhibition. my bad.

as far as other questions go,
    how much are tickets?
are there any local fighters in it?

Jaysus that's a bit sassy isn't it? Couldn't you have written:
Actually, The fights in TUF are classed as exhibtion fights, and are not entered on a pro fighters record.

And that might have done the same thing no? It was a fair question.

Anyway, looks like it's going to be great show.

Lovely! Off for this and Cage Contenders two weeks before, November is looking MMAtastic!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭kainer2

Cage Warriors have handed Rossendale's Dec 'Kid Dynamite' Williams (5-2-3) a huge chance to make a positive impression on their next card, CWFC 39: 'The Uprising,' on which he'll take on WEC veteran Justin Robbins (11-9) in a Bantamweight contest.

Williams is coming off a close draw with Damien Rooney (7-1-1) at Cage Contender VI in August, and will be looking to bounce back into the radar of the country's top Bantamweights such as Greg Knapp and James Doolan.

Former HIT Squad man Robbins won't give Williams an easy ride though, and has to be favoured going into this fight. The Illinois born combatant is coming off a loss to Jesse Brock, but is now the head coach at the MMA Clinic's Cork base, and is looking to rebuild on British shores.

No, according to our Bellator contracts we would only be allowed to fight each other on a Bellator show so this is a completely separate thing.

Is that I fight you would like Ais? I'm could be way off the mark here but I get a feeling there is a bit of bad blood there (Don't know why) I did an interview with Rosi a few weeks ago but she had nothing but good things to say about you. I am not trying to start anything here as I like both of you. If I am way off the mark just say YES :D

Yeah Bellator have been really good giving us permission to firstly let Aisling and Rosi fight on the show. Then allowing them to fight some highly rated US based opposition.

Bellator could of quite easily vetoed these bouts as they are both very competitive match-ups. For example: Sally Krumdiack is ranked in the top 10 in her weight class, whilst Molly Helsel actually fights tonight at Gladiator Challenge and has fought a who's who of the WMMA scene.

We've been sitting on this for a few days waiting to get formal approval from Bellator and now it's come, i hope it shows just how seriously we are taking this show in Cork, as brining over fighters from the States takes a lot of effort

But i think it will pay off and since the leak, the fights have really been warmly received Stateside and also in the WMMA community and i'm proud to have all four fighters on the show, whilst also giving one of Ireland's top fighters the chance to fight at home again before she goes back to the States next year

Im really pleased with these announcements:D Absolutely fab news to have such high calibre fighters/ fights and hopefully it will inspire womens MMA to grow in this country;)

Some distance for us "Nordies" to travel but I would say this is definately gonna be a great show for Irish MMA;)

    There's no bad blood.
I don't believe in trash talking or bad mouthing people it's not my style it's a sport at the end of the day.
I love to test myself against the best opposition available to me so for sure I'd love to fight Rosi not for any other reason than she's a talented fighter. I'd welcome any tough opponent.

Right now all my focus is on Molly and I'm well aware I have my work cut out for me. She's had tough fights with any & all of the top female fighters around and given them all a run for the money so I'm going to have to bring my A game.

Ais the Bash will be back on form though ;)

Thanks very much to Ian and all the guys at cagewarriors for making this happen I really appreciate it and am so happy to be competing again.

It's going to be a great night for Irish MMA & I can't wait! :D
