Unless it's a DVB-T2 Tuner ("Freeview HD") and not DVB-T only (Freeview) you won't get UK HD DTT, even on a "Full HD" TV.

Receiving IOM Freeview full strength in S.Down on New Freeview Bravia,But no apparent sign of HD transmissions. What should I be looking for?

It is Channel 50 from Beary (west coast) but as Watty says chances are that your set will not be compatable (although) you should get a 100% signal stength reading. Many folk over here (IOM) are mightily cheesed off having been one of the first areas to go digital and buying new sets or set-top boxes once HD came along most were not compatable. No way rond it I'm afraid only new hardware!

    Cheers.

    Thanks for the reply.
    Sony Bravia 40 ex 403 u.TV System Digital DVB-T2/DVB-T/DVB-C.
RTE coming in on Digital ch.54 H Group c/d.
Saw BBC and ITV HD out of Wales last night although not for long due to,my set-up,distance and prop conditions etc.
Problem seems to be IOM ,I can see it,only SD pictures.?
I am assuming if pics are coming in on SD then the set should see HD as it did with Wales last night?
Backing off on amp gain helps a great deal I found.

Just done a quick check and the only IOM transmitter which does not seem to have HD at present is Jurby which is a very low powered relay.

Chances are you are getting Beary further done the coast but much higher up.

If it is Jurby however you won't get HD until May 11.

Use the post code checker TRADE VIEW on the DTT coverage pages this is my reading:

    http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/postcodechecker/main/trade/im6+1HT/11/0/h6helncq0tt51ngnq1ag2olht5

By the way I get my DTT from Divis (even though Beary is just done the road) because IOM transmiters are Freeview lite.

    Cheers

Channels 43 for ITV and 46 BBC signal 100%,nothing on CH50 with same set up.
On a related broadband query, why can I only click on "This thread is located on",sometimes and go straight there ,but most times have to wade my way back through the whole threads /boards menu?thanks.

Can't help you with the broadband query - on the IOM HD can you try Channels 42 or 47 they are the low powered relays at Ramsey and Kimmeragh which are (according to a code check I've just done) already switched to HD

Strange you're not getting the HD channels on CH50. Beary Pairk is low power, so you're probably getting Port St Mary Tx which is at 2kw. Is the tv's region set to UK? If not, it might have disabled T2 part?

TV is set to UK and have seen BBC HD from Wales, only SD from IOM,about to give up on HD from IOM.Its not the TV.
Will have to go for Wales although its a much bigger rig,on chimney pot and all that.

Is Cambret Hill transmitting the HD channels yet ? I did read somewhere that they were supposed to come on last October but so far nothing at this location.

At the moment there's a bit of a lift on so signal levels from across the water may be better than they are normally.

What seems to happening is if you are getting 100% signal and quality from a given SD transmitter,it does not mean that you will receive HD transmissions at anything like that strength,if at all.
Prepare to be disappointed.but then they do not want us to receive freeview HD before 2013?
