Per/TheRealNeoGeo from AkihabaraShop.jp has truly outdone himself.

http://akihabarashop.jp/images/PS360infopage.jpg

$35 pre-order for a PS3/360/PC compatible PCB for custom sticks.
Comes with terminal blocks for easy attachment of wires.

I'm gonna order at least one with the last remnants of my fun money.
Who else wants in?

If you mod my stick as well, ill get it:D

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭Sairus

Just to clarify, what does this do, and what is entailed in its installation?

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,239 ✭✭✭UberPrinny_Baal

I'm fairly happy with my unmodded TE, and the inferno tournaments are good at catering to both. I'm not certain this would be a necessary purchase for me.

Plus there's no preset button config for the way I play stick, and I don't know which of my buttons would become a triangle/circle/square, so button configs on PS3s would be a nightmare.

The only upside would probably be for those times I show up at casuals, and it's just Joe and his PS3 stick, and no games can be had.

It's a PCB which (exactly like the Datel/Paewang Revolution) allows the user to have a stick which works on both major consoles, and PC.

And it allows piss-easy installation as all you need are wires to insert from terminal block to your buttons.

Basically, it's like the Cthulhu, but BETTER.

Does it have all the functionality of the MC Cuthulhu?

I might pick one up just to have one. How come toodles hasn't developed one of his own?!

I don't think it does -- it's closer to a Cthulhu; it'll probably only work on PS3/360/PC, and not on older/other consoles like Wii & PS2 out-of-the-box.
But, it appears to be common ground so dual-mods wouldn't be out of the question.

Toodles is overrated ;)
Nah, my guess is that AkiShop got in contact with the makers of the Datel/Paewang board & got them to create a custom based on their chips.

This.

I'd be too afraid of bricking both PCBs if I tried to do it myself. Plus, it'd be nice to have a stick I could use on XBox's for tournaments and such. So many people carry so much hate for the awesomeness of Seimitsu parts.:pac:

Yar, slap me down for an order when you're getting one. I can give you some moneys at the Gamer Expo or Eirtakon if you're in attendance.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,823 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Please remember that AkiShop is still only in pre-order phrase.
I'll send them an email on Thursday with the list of interested parties.

Also he's said that the price might dip under $35 (depending on high demand).

JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING:

If AkiShop don't secure a European supplier (e.g. ArcadeShop.de) then there's a high chance of getting caught by customs -- increasing price per board from €25 to €30 (+p&p).

Just thought you might all want to be aware of that.

I'll get one. And one of my friends might be interested, I'll check with him tomorrow.

Can these be installed in both PS3 and 360 sticks?

The AkiShop PS360 is closer to a drop-in dual-modded board.
You'd want to disconnect the Madcatz/Hori PCB entirely.

Got an update email from AkihabaraShop.
This weekend we were supposed to tell you the final price but because of the PCB updates that many of you customers asked about (extra connector for usb among other things) it has been delayed until early next week. The maximum price that we wrote before still stands so if it gets a little bit more expensive for us to make you will still pay 35US$/pcs at the most.

Also, because I sent a pre-order email we will get FREE EMS shipping if anyone not on the list chips in for an extra board.

• chueytoo
• animaX
• Voa
• Sairus
• Ramza
• Red350

And this info:
1. Is it possible to connect signal from Turbo button and Select button together on one button, will I still be able to change modes?
Answer: Yes, it is possible.

2. Can you have an extra connector (not USB-jack) on the PCB for easy access of USB lines without soldering?
Answer: Yes, we will have this.

3. Can you have LED´s on the PCB or the possibility of connecting cables with LED´s on so we can see if PS3 mode or 360 mode is enganged?
Answer: This is a possibility, if it does not cost to much we will add it to the PCB for sure.

4. Is it possible to have Start and Select/Back act as Home/Guide when pushed together?
Answer: We are waiting for this answer. If it is possible we will of course have it.

5. Is it possible to order in kit form also (pcb without USB-jack and without Terminal Blocks)?
Answer: We will get reply next week about this.

6. Is it possible to play Playstation 2 games on older versions of Playstation 3 with this PCB?
Answer: It is a possibility but we can not test it, we can make new software but you have to test it for yourself.

7. If Sony or Microsoft update their firmware, is it possible it can stop working?
Answer: There is always a possibility but a similar version of this pcb has been out for quite some time now and is still functioning very well.

8. What software is on the PCB for PS3?
Answer: Our own (maker of the PCB).

9. How long will it take until you ship the PCB?
Answer: We are calculating with it being finished around the end of this month.

10. How do I change modes, I don´t understand?
Answer: Please watch our small video tutorial:
http://akihabarashop.jp/misc/PS360Modes.mov

11. What is the size of the PCB?
Answer: Here you can see the size:
http://akihabarashop.jp/images/PS360MeasurementsMini.jpg

12. Will it work with an optical joystick also? If so, how do I connect it?
Answer: See full hook up picture with optical joystick here:

It will not be sold in kit-form = unassembled.

PS360 will be ready to ship out at either in the end of the month or early next month.

I'll be paying this via Paypal on Tuesday, so I'll post up the invoice & you can all pay me back your share from then on.

Worked out at €25.86 each.
I'll happily take more ;)

Wow bargain.

Are we going to have some sort of PCB install party at your house then?

I wouldn't even know where to start

Argh, sorry Gory -- I'd already done the transaction!

I'll contact AkiShop and see if he'll let me add another for you.

@UberPrinny_Baal: lol, PCB install party :D

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,239 ✭✭✭UberPrinny_Baal

Seriously.

I'll bring the board games :D

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,823 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

If only I didn't live at home (and had a house that is super cramped!) :(
I like board- and card games!

@GorySnake: I've added a PCB for you now. You'll have to sort the JLF yourself though -- I recommend ArcadeShop.de or AkihabaraShop.jp.

*edit*
UNLESS you want me to order a JLF for you with my CC (I charge €2 for this service ;))

Cool thanks for the PCB anyway, I'll look into the stick some other time.

Edit: I'll be willing to pay the extra €2

Install mine/gimme a hand with it at yours and I'll give you first class 3s lessons one on one :pac: forget these chumps :pac:

nah, jk obviously. but i will seriously need 4 wires I think for my start and select, and also a hand putting it in ><

Kiki, I won't be taking my one which I had pre-ordered. However, I will pay you through paypal if you pm me your account.

I think Owwmykneecap said he would be interested in taking it instead.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Orim

I'll jump in on that on one, if Kneecap doesn't want it.

No worries Terry, I'll keep it in the safebox & get the cash off whoever wants it instead ;)
Kneecaps has first dibs over Orim, IIRC.

Latest update:
AkiShop wrote:
Information #1 about pre-order of the PS360 PCB

Hello again,

We have now gotten payment from you and you are now waiting for the PCB(s) to ship so here is the first update on your order:

We had an estimated shipping date around the start of this month but it has been changed a bit because of shipping time to us (with boat) and the extra amount we have ordered.

New shipping date (that is when we ship it to you) will be near the end of this month (November), this is the final schedule we got from the maker.
We are very sorry for this, hope you understand.

More info about the PCB:
* Each PS360 will be solder free for the user, no soldering required.
* Each PS360 will be packed in an anti-static bag.
* Each PS360 will have a 4-pin cable included for extra USB signal hook-up inside your stick (if needed).

If anyone changes their minds about their PCB or have a spare one over, I'll be willing to pay 30 euros for it.

Boards have arrived, customs man didn't :D

Actually I'm gonna ransom them now.
€28** each! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!*

*aww, go on...
**unless customs get me... right? Erk...

You get sent a letter from customs a week or so later generally.

Hopefully I'll be able to get this from you at some stage next week.

When's the party?
Not this weekend for sure.

I shouldn't even be on the net except for research.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,823 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Quick update for everyone:

I'm currently studying for exams, so I won't be working on PS360 stuff until after my last exam (15th Jan).

If you want me to post a PS360 PCB to you, please PM me ASAP.

For anyone else waiting on installs:
I will be investigating on the IFs/HOWs of a solderless 11-button install in PS3 or 360 TEs.

Additionally (or if I can't hook into the Home-button panel), Plan B:
Adding 1-2 small buttons (either on the top plate or at the rear).

This is because the TE only has 10 easily accessible buttons (meaning a sacrifice of Select button).
Post on here if you have any questions (because I know my explanation is kinda weird).

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,396 ✭✭✭PPC

You'd be better using a 74ACT32 than adding extra buttons.
It'll allow you to push start+select to activate guide/home.
Only costs about 45c and you could use heatshrink to get it working.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,823 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

UPDATE

Can't figure out a solderless method.

Have found a method which WILL however allow use of the Home & Turbo buttons on the top panel (as normal).
However, I will have to take the stick home to solder to the main board for this.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,237 ✭✭✭Owwmykneecap

You have one for me or what's the story with that?

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,823 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Yeah, I have it (and loads others -- I've actually forgotten who they're for!)

PM me if you want me to send it via An Post.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,237 ✭✭✭Owwmykneecap

I'll sort it with you at inferno. I'll probably need you to stick it in for me anyway depending on how tricky it is.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭Dreddybajs

Lads as an outside observer you gotta realise that "sticking it in" for you requires quite a lot of work for Kiki, as well as research in some cases (figuring out how to keep the home/turbo buttons working, etc.). imo you guys should be offering him money to do this stuff for you rather than (it seems to me) just expecting it as part of him ordering the PCB for you.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,396 ✭✭✭PPC

I agree, from personal experience it does take a bit of time to get a new pcb setup in a stick.
Last time i installed a dual mod it took nearly 5 hours of work. This method is a bit easier but its still time consuming.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,239 ✭✭✭UberPrinny_Baal

I would be quite happy to pay extra and even drive to the installers house to minimise his time investment in this project (if anyone is willing to do this for me).

The second this involved soldering it went immediately beyond my abilities, both in equipment and skill.
