Just saw this on MCD's facebook: Deadmau5 has just announced a date at The O2, Dublin on 14 December with special guest DJ’s Calvin Harris and Steve Aoki. On sale Friday 8 October at 9am

Im guessing tickets will be about €50? Might go to this myself if I can get a few people to go with me. Steve aoki was really good live when I saw him at oxegen.

Tickets €49.20  Bang in the middle of most college exams so dunno how well it will sell. Mad how he's gone from playing the Academy to the O2 in the space of a year though!

well individually you'd be paying 20e+ for each of the acts own good, so its not that much of a crazy price.

last time i seen steve for a tener?? couldnt really care about calvin that much to be honest, atleast steve mixes it up when he dj's unlike Calvin , he has the same old technique

Has some great songs. I'd say I'll be going to this :)

I would in my f*ck pay over 20e to see Deadmau5. God that mouse hat is a money spinner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,573 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

My mate just e-mailed me about this, I'll be going.

The price will put a lot of people off and Deadmau5 haters gonna hate, but you'd pay between 20-25 to see Deadmau5 or Calvin Harris individually anywhere except at a college event so €50 for the three of them is a reasonable enough price.

Also of course Deadmau5 tickets are going to start getting more expensive as he gets more famous, it's a fairly basic principle of supply and demand. I'm sure people saw Muse for a tenner back in the day too.

steve aoiki is much bigger than calvin harris in the dj'ing world:P but calvin is bigger in the mainstream world tho !!!!

I dont know what the age is but at his gig in the olympia in May there was loads of confusion over the age but it ended up bein 16+. Would well pay 50 yoyo's... as long as he plays a bit longer than his last gig here :)

Surely if it's 16 in the Olympia it'l not be any higher for the O2. He's doin gigs in Manchester Central etc and they're 16+ so I'd be surprised and f'ing gutted if it was 18+ here! :)

Anyway if alls good i'l be heading down to dublin for a couple of days.

Really don't get that well. Deadmau5 is playing in some rougher places in england and it's 16+ so the O2 should get it sorted!

I wouldnt say hes the number 1 electronic dj atm, but hes the most commercial one atm yeah. But seriously, people going to this, be prepared for absouloute mayhem and unreal moshing when steve aoki blasts out "warp 1977"

    Just a heads up :P

Not interested in calvin harris really. Hope steve aoki is on after him (he should be).

Deadmau5 playing out "Strobe" in the sound system the O2 has should be epic though.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,755 ✭✭✭A V A

hahahaha iv seen beetroots so many times now i know what to expect!!!!!!!!

i just said to me self that steve aoiki plays like hard electro etc but deadmau5 plays kind of house music a bit , i say there will be a difference in the crowd a tad bit :P

God if is Steve Aoki still milking that track and playing it twice in all his sets?

really looking forward to this, seen him in amnesia in ibiza coming up on 2 weeks ago, put on a great show, the place was jammers! id imagine the top section of seats will be closed off with them giant curtains, cant see the whole place being open, they wouldnt sell 14000 tickets i dont think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 Joeys94

    Its 16's...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,476 ✭✭✭run_Forrest_run

Saw him 2 years ago at EP and he was in one of the tents, little big tent I think.
Last year he played the Ambassador and UCD.
This year he's suddenly called a 'Superstar DJ' by the O2 text I received in relation to this gig.
I have a little policy to never ever go to a DJ who's known to be a superstar DJ...it will only end in tears.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 Voytech

Does anyone know why at 02blueroom.ie the best available seats are in section A only? I checked all sections in the middle and nothing. Is section A only available for priority and rest of sections will be available on normal date of sale (Friday 08/10/10)? Any of you have experience in that area with previous gigs?
    Thanks

It's almost like as he became more well known and started winning awards that the record companies realised he was more marketable to the mainstream. Weird...

something tells me if a DJ goes around with a mouse head on it sounds like he knows pretty well how to market himself without the help from any record company.

sooooooooooooooo looking forward to this , deadmau5 is making a huge name for himself fast , im a big tiesto fan myself and loved his last gig in the o2 and must admit deadmau5 is really growing on me and dying to see what he bangs out....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,432 ✭✭✭df1985

be warned, hes starting to play a fair bit of dubstep in his sets these days, killed the atmosphere at his gig in ibiza, all was well when he went back to his regualr stuff!

I personally dont mind dubstep but no one was feeling it at the time.

I'm a huge Deadmau5 and Aoki fan so I'll definitely be getting my ticket on Friday. I was even going to go to his Glasgow show, that's how much I want to see him. I think 50 euro is a great price, I'd pay twice that to see him live.. He puts on a serious show and I hope he brings the Cube :D

Aoki absolutely tore sh*t up at Oxegen. Warp 1.9 had the place going mental! I even got to touch him and scream in the mic when he came down to the crowd

Big Calvin Harris fan too :) Guessing he'll be on first to get the crowd warmed up. Should be an great night! See you there! :D

That was Warp 1977. Warp 1.9 is the bloody beetroot's original version. I much prefer Warp 1977.

Not a big fan of calvin, but id say he will be on after Aoki, undeservedly.

Dubstep is great, if used at the right time. Deadmau5 should take some tips from Jack Beats as to when to use dubstep. Im guessing the dubstep he used was stuff like magnetic man

Why? Steve Aoki can't mix to save his life and has no idea how to build a set he just throws on heavy song after heavy song while jumping around and shouting into the microphone. Plus he barely has any releases of his own mostly just "feat Steve Aoki" which means more unnecessary shouting and the ones he has released are mediocore at best. Sure he has his trendy little record label and has a bit of a following but he's nothing special. Calvin Harris although I admittedly wouldn't be a fan I've seen one of his sets and he can mix fine, knows how to judge a crowd and what songs to play in that situation and also has a larger fan base in Ireland that he's built up himself over the last few years. I don't think it would be undeserving at all for him to be on after Steve

Got my ticket yesterday so really looking forward to this now. Also on Calvin Harris, I'm hoping it will be a DJ Set he plays rather than his usual stuff. His usual stuff is grand but will be very different to what's on before/after him.

Calvin Harris DJ Set >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Calvin Harris Studio Stuff

Well, ive never seen a clavin harris DJ set, but I have seen him live at oxegen this year and it was a pretty good gig, but I do think Aoki should be on after him, but Aoki's live sets are great craic and he puts a fair bit of energy into them.

Sure the screaming in the mic can get a bit annoying after a while, and yeah he doesn't make the best of tracks apart from the odd decent track but thats beside the point as he plays lots of other peoples tracks when he djs obviously, but still, his gigs are crazy. And in fairness ive never noticed a problem with his mixing and beat matching and I don't think anyone in the crowd will be too bothered either.

emmmmm steve aoiki is a beast of a dj :P he can mix and he does have his own mixes , i have about 20/30 of his songs , and they are good

It took him a while to sell out the Olympia a few months ago which has a capacity of under 2,000, the O2 has a 14,000 capacity so it'll be another another while before it sells out, if it even does. Also with the gig being on a Tuesday and in the middle of a lot of college exams won't help ticket sales.

very doubtful it will sell it in fairness, still gona be epic:D

the top deck of seats isnt open, just the lower section, even at that id say itll be handy getting tickets right up to it. Im going but in no rush to get a ticket.
