Jaysus, with the way both Real and Depor are playing lately, we have the possibility of the dullest professional football match of all time on the cards here.

Sociedad have started well, Griezmann looking lively as usual. Can't imagine he'll be playing at Sociedad next season.

    Great start for Valencia.

    1-0 Aduriz

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

I just can't get over how well Valencia are playing. David Villa practically carried them to the Champions League spot last year, so I thought they would have really struggled without him and Silva.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

On the other side, I thought people were writing Valencia off far too much. Soldado and Aduriz were dismissed as second class immediately. Sure, losing Davids Villa and Silva would hurt any team, but its not like these two were the only ones doing anything for them.

And lets not forget, Unai Emery is a bloody good manager.

This is frantic stuff! 2 goals in injury time!

I'm beginning to really, really like Spanish football! :D

Great finish to the game. Frantic stuff indeed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

What a mad finish, we haven't had one of those in La Liga for awhile now. Would like to have seen Bilbao get something from that game, Valencia were awful cynical their purple patch ended. Did I hear right that Valencia have debt of €400 million?

There are going to be some major clubs going bankrupt in the coming years I think.

Yeah, they mentioned on sky sports that they have cleared over €100 million and their current debt is over €400 million.

Valencia are looking like real challengers for la liga this season. Its a shame they didnt get a result against Utd in the cl.

    Barca lineup:
Valdés; Alves, Piqué, Milito, Abidal; Mascherano, Keita, Iniesta; Pedro, Messi, Bojan

Puyol and Busquets on the bench - cant say I am happy with that.

    Atleti two down against Sevilla.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Messi just been awarded the European Golden shoe out on the pitch :)

    Good start by Barca.

    Xavi is injured.

I have Albert Ferrer on Spanish tv :D

    Always a funny lil chap.

Barcelona are absolutely battering Mallorca here. 80% possession, most of the Mallorca team haven't even crossed the half line so far.

Nsue great header in between Pique and Milito. Do Barca always defend corners with no men on the posts?

You have to laugh, was that even the first shot they had?

No - Sure didnt Valdes not save the shot that led to the corner ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Anyway that Messi goal was class - great backflick from Pedro.

Have seen Messi score that goal about a dozen times in the past two seasons.

He absolutely loves curling the ball into the bottom left from centre outside the box.

Its nearly impossible for a keeper to get near it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Maxwell and Jeffren need to come on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Keeper booked for timewasting at the 58th minute.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

    ^ Really? For whom?

Mallorca are very well set up here. Gonna take something special to get past them. Bojan and Pedro need to relaise they are actually on the pitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Maxwell will get forward more than Abidal. Bojan has wasted a few chances and not done much else.

The thing I dont get is that if you are already missing two of the starting eleven through injury/suspension (Xavi and Villa) then why in the name of god do you choose to leave another two of the starting eleven (Puyol and Busquets) on the bench. I dont understand that at all to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,536 ✭✭✭Dolph Starbeam

Alcantara on now, highly rated young player, Barca need to stop wasting the ball so much.

Abidal has been outstanding going forward tonight.

Jeffren maybe just to mix it up a bit.

    Alves???? Bloody hell

Not gonna score again tonight Id say.

Laudrup to take points off both Barca and Real in the first six games

Fairplay if he does it because not many would have predicted it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

    Nolito? Never heard of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

What is with Laudrup and setting up his teams to defend with class against the big sides?

He had them do it against Real Madrid a few weeks back and has done it again tonight.

Talk about coming back to haunt your former clubs.

That said it was two points dropped - Barca should have scored several.

Didnt like the lineup the moment I saw it - why he leaves the captain and key DM on the bench is baffling especially when already without two of your key players.

No football for the next two weeks - hopefully Xavi will be back and Villa also to return.

3pts behind Los Che as it stands and a visit to the Mestalla to come.

Just a very lack lustre performance again. All the possession in the world, but did almost nothing with it.

Mascherano, Bojan, Pedro and Keita did precisely nothing between them. Iniesta did fúck all either.

Alves was wasteful with some good chances.

There is something missing from Barca at the moment. This is a game which would have been eaten up the last few seasons.

    Very frustrating.

I know there were injuries/suspensions, but these are worrying times for Barca. Performances just haven't been up to scratch for the most part this season. Mascherano just looked completely out of place in the Barca team tonight. Keita was disappointing and Iniesta was just trying to do too much. As for Bojan, not good enough, will never be good enough.

    Get in :)

Hopefully Madrid can take advantage now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

I do not understand how Mascherano got 90 minutes. Extremely poor and in a game like that, was not really needed.

Bojan is looking like the Bojan of 2 years ago, not last year. It amazes me. He has nailed himself down as firsy choice, and he looses all form. Odd lad.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

    Ugh. Game over :(

Masch hasnt looked a good signing at all.

He hasnt impressed my once to be honest.

Bojan 10 apps this season and not a goal to show.

I would get over the lack of goals if he was playing well. But he has been a passenger everytime so far. FFS, I spent the summer defending him to the hilt, and this is he he repays my confidence :p

    2-0

    Ozil

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,536 ✭✭✭Dolph Starbeam

    Nolito? Never heard of him.

Supposed to be a good finisher, i only know of him through the CM games. You'd be hoping to break into the 1st team before your 23 though, even though its Barca.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

Real Madrid cruising, 3-0 from a Di Maria header.
