I have started to do 2 circuit training classes a week. just wanted to know does this class have a similar effect as doing free weights training.
i do about 20 mins of free weights after it, and i also do cardio on the other days.

Depends on what exercises you do in the circuit training classes??? Although you do say you do 20 minutes of free weights after, so I'm guessing the circuit training would take place on weight machines and/or bodyweight exercises? If it's weight machines, then free weights are far superior. If it's bodyweight exercises (push-ups, pull-ups, dips etc) then they are very beneficial but after a while you'll need to challenge your body more and the only way of doing this is by using free weights.

I see you said you do cardio on the other days - make sure you have a couple of rest days per week so that your body can repair and recover itself, especially from heavy free weight days.

The class is a combination of free weights and bodyweight exercises, also some running and step aerobic. its an hour long and i am wall falling after it. the thing is i dont mind putting in 100% into the circuit class, as i find i get very distracted doing free weight on the gym floor, i need to to be motivated in a class. i know doing weights is better all round, thats why i am wondering is the circuit class a quick fix

No it doesn't...but that's not necessarily a bad thing. 1hr of swimming and 1hr of cycling aren't the same either.

If you are getting out of it what you want then that should be all you need be concerned about.
