    Hey there,

Sorry for the many make up related posts by me, I'm just in a make up buying mood lately!

I'm looking for a new foundation, I've been using the Revlon Photoready one and while it's nice, I think it's a little too dry for my skin.

I want a foundation that's for dry skin but doesn't make you shiny as I go that way after a few hours, does such a foundation exist? I like the look of the YSL radiance ones or anything that makes you look more radiant, so I'd love some recommendations please!!

Photoready made me shiny after half an hour! Hated it. Colourstay also by Revlon do a Dry or Oily foundation. I use the Dry one and it's great.

Cool, glad other people don't find it so great! It's not bad, just in the market to splash out on a really good one that I'll really love so need some ideas!

Ah that's kind but you don't have to send a sample, just looking for recommendations!

    Hi there,

I'm using clinique even better at moment and i think it 's a very good foundation. it's not dry at all and it has a medium coverage (dipending on how much foundation you put on) and it also corrects all the imperfections you have on your skin. the price is 28 eur
There is another foundation which i think is wonderful and it's a double wear by Estee Lauder. I asked for a sample and belive me it's just amazing. once i finished the clinique one I'm going to buy it for sure. :D

my skin shines up no matter what kind of foundation i use - have tried clinique, lancome, revlon, maybelline, and so on (cound go on for ages but won't!) and the only thing that helps me is a loose powder on top. help the foundation stay on better too.

I have dry skin too and have tried millions of foundations- armani, all the Mac foundations, Inglot, Rimmel..the list is endless but I have settled on Nars Sheer Glow and its brilliant:D It never flakes on my dry skin, it has very good medium coverage but feels really light on my skin and when I touch my face it feels like skin not a mask of foundation. Even though its called "sheer glow" there is only a slight glow to it...its gives your skin a fresh healthy glow not an unnatural "disco ball" glow like some foundations do:P. My skin doesn't tend to get shiny so I cant really help you with that but normally only oily skin tends to get shiny, so if you have dry skin and its still getting shiny after you put your makeup on then maybe its the moisturiser you are using or it could be the foundation does not suit your skin? It could be just a case of changing your moisturiser and getting a good foundation primer. Anyways, look up some of the reviews on youtube for it or go to the Nars counter in BT and try it..you wont be disappointed:D

I have dry skin also, I find foundation tricky to get right(to say the least). Am currently using Revlon Colorstay which has great coverage but it's not too cakey, lasts for ages without touch up but doesnt go patchy. Also using Chanel Pro Lumiere for a more 'dewy' look, it is so GOOD!!

Bobbi Brown...it is super...great for dry skin and makes the skin look like porcelain too.... had tried them all.... but v happy with it....

i can highly recommend clinique superfit. it lasts me all day and gives a nice natural look with moderate coverage. its the only foundation that doesnt give me a flaky nose.
you probably know that anyway but dry skin can have two reasons: generally dry skin or dehydrated skin. so drink enough water and have a good diet can help a lot. once you have your skincare regime right, its easier to get the right make up

For a cheaper brand I like maybelline superstay, lasts long and nice coverage.
Has a really pale one if you have a lighter complexion like me. Apply it with a damp sponge though, it can be a bit tricky to get it just right like the revlon!!

I just bought a bottle of the new Lancome Teint Miracle foundation - and I must say that I'm really liking it. Great coverage but light.

EDIT: Just to add, I picked it up for approx €27 in Dublin Airport. I think that it retails for closer to €40 in normal shops.

I've pretty dry skin now, so I don't know how it suits oily skin when it comes to the long wearing part. It's quite matte also, but I correct this with a light shimmer bronzer, I suspect I'll love the matte in the winter though.
The pros far outweigh the cons

I'll go in and try it out, at least it's on the cheaper end of the scale!!

My favourite 'day time' make up is clinique superbalanced!!

    Its brilliant!

    Night time foundation.. is

The Elizabeth arden sponge one (yes the one your mama always had!), then covered with Bobbi Brown foundation (a matte one).. my skin always looks great when I wear it!!

Have to say, Clinique Superfit is lovely. Wearing Estee Lauder DW at present and I like it. However, it's really not up everyone's street, and I go through phases of liking it and hating it. I have normal/dry skin and I like my make up to stay on, but primers don't really work for me, and creamy foundations or ones for dry skin just don't stay on my face. Superfit is great that way because it stays on without being drying. Might just go back to it!!!

So long story short I recommend Superfit.

I love good old elizabeth arden too, it always works for a night out, too heavy for day time but a god send to have in your makeup bag!!

I don't think there are in the pharmacy's, worth trying to find one though. There is at an Arden counter, but it costs like 30e there I think, not really worth it I don't think.
I only wear it when I have fake tan on!!

Bumping cos I need a new foundation too and there's some good recommendations on this thread! I have normal/dry skin but I can get the occiassional spot on my chin, and my skintone is a bit uneven.
I've used Clinique Superfit before and liked it, but I found it kindof wore off a bit during the day. So I'm looking for something new - very natural looking but enough to covers red around my nose and uneven skin tone, doesn't settle in fine wrinkles on my forehead and around my eyes, and lasts the day... if it exists! I find Estee Lauder DW too heavy, Chanel is nice but I hate the smell, MAC made me break out all around my chin  , Benefit Some Kind-a Gorgeous just sits on top of my skin without blending in ....
A friend of mine recently recommended Laura Mercier foundation, and a professional makeup artist recommended Giorgio Armani. Any thoughts???

Light Pink is one of our lightest supplements. It can be blended with any of the others to create the right tint for you. This one is suited to people with pale or pink complexions. It’s made with soya and rice bran oils to care for all skin types. Just mix into your favourite moisturiser for a natural tint or use on its own as a foundation. You can also dot a little around unsightly blemishes for effective coverage.

I love the Armani Luminious silk and all bobbi brown foundations for everyday wear. Estee Lauder Double wear is great for more coverage but I have to load on the moisturiser beforehand or it kind of sticks to my skin.

Bought this new Max factor one yesterday in shade 45 raw silk, I am of a pale pink nature too.. Very impressed and I have about 5 other foundations on the go at the moment but this is so comfortable and light but with amazing coverage, I didn't need to use concealer!

I got it as well, and it goes on nicely and is sheer, but don't find the coverage or staying power great. Now, I'll concede staying power is a problem for me with everything except Colorstay (can't find a suitable shade in DW) but this is gone from my chin before lunch (even with primer). I love the texture of it though.

I'm always intrigued by Max Factor as I know a few makeup artists that use it - particularly good as stage makeup but we don't want to look that caked on during the day! But I looked up this Max Factor foundation on makeupalley.com and it gets good reviews..... will give it a go!

Also gets great reviews on Boots.com.....

I think it is around the €39 mark but you don't need much so the bottle lasts ages.

I have dry skin and I found Bourjois just totally dried out my skin, didn't realise how bad it was for my skin until I started using a new foundation, Lancome Photogenic Lumessence, love it but wears off pretty quick. It's 36.50 and 29euro in the airport! It lasts me 10months, that's with every day use.
I don't think it would help with the shine coming on your face. Maybe your need a more breathable foundation if that makes sense...

I wouldn't skimp on paying extra for a good foundation that suits your skin.
I used to buy cheap foundations but wouldn't go back to them now after seeing the difference! So not worth it! Bourjois smells too! Like their blushers though!

Bare escentuals mineral makeup. I've tried so many including all the popular expensive ones and this is fantastic. It's mineral so it's light, non drying and great coverage. BT2 sell it and give out samples to try if you're not sure.

Thanks! If they give out a free sample it's always a good chance to try it out!

Am using Diorskin Nude at the moment and I love it. I have dry skin which tends to be quite sensitive - this is the best foundation I've used yet. Am going to get a sample of Chanel Vitalumiere as I've heard great things about it.
