Views of where you run

In the style of the fantastic photos of where you run thread, and to celebrate the launch of Google Street view in Ireland, how about posting a few links of where you like to do your running and why?

Carrigologan Hill - This is where I do a lot of my most enjoyable running, on the roads around Carrigologan Hill. It's about two miles from where I live, up some nice hill climbs, yet very much in the country. Great views of the Sugarloaf, and you have the option of heading off-road to hit the forests and trails, or stick to the nice country laneways.

Great idea for a thread!

Trá an Dóilín: About half a mile from the house, in a place called An Cheathrú Rua (Carraroe). It's all downhill from the house to the beach so it's a nice way to start a run, and a short shoreline run further on gets you to another road, so plenty of loop options. The beach is called the Coral Strand in English, as it's not composed of sand but tiny bits of broken-up calcified seaweed that people take to be coral!

An Bóthar Nua
I doubt there's anything new about An Bóthar Nua, but that's what it's called. This is usually where I end up doing my interval and tempo runs if I'm heading out from work at lunch time. It's in a townland called Na Minna (my wife's family home is at the bottom of this road). It's a quiet road with a nice surface, a few small bog tracks around lakes that add nicely to the distance. Alleged poitín-making on islands on these lakes, but that's all allegedly of course!

This is one of my favorites, actually it shares some of your views of the Sugerloaf. Its about 5 miles from home and includes a bitch of a hill up past Bono's house. Early on an autumn morning as the sun comes up you really could be anywhere in the world, sea air and the smell of Eucalyptus and pine trees, thats when its good to be alive!

I agree, it is stunningly beautiful, but in the end it's down to choice, not luck.

I know that road well sideswipe. This is one of my favourite views. It really is the Dublin riviera, isn't it? But those are just tiny hills. Come out to my hills sometime!

Cant believe they made there cars go up here. All my LSR's have involved this climb from Ennis to here ~4 Miles.

Did a lot of my running across this bog this Summer. Didn't always have weather like that though.

Must say, I'm amazed at this street view thing. I've picked out the most remote, tiniest cul-de-sacs, and they seem to have covered them all.

I remember last year seeing the google car outside the house and jumped up and down like a lunatic. Well I've been imortalized in google street map forever:) I do look like a bit of an ejit though.

I'm going to search the Phoenix park view and head down into the furry glen to see if anything "interesting" is occurring.

Well they didn't drive the Google car down my favourite running spot but they did drive over a bridge spanning the track so that's as good as I can do

After 10 miles on this route all is at peace :cool:

I love the leafy lane of Mine Hill Lane in Rathmichael / Kilteernan. There's a doozy of a hill at the end of the road though, so I'm embarrassed to say I don't run it too often.

...is it just me or does it seem that all the street view pictures were taken in glorious sunshine? Are we sure these were really taken in Ireland?

That sure is a ripper of a hill (once a week would be too much) but the view back out over Enniskerry and the Gap is well worth with it.

Ballyteige on road between Aughrim and Aghavannagh
here
a regular running route of mine. The river Ow is through the trees here, flowing just below Ironbridge winding its way down the valley to Aughrim.

Further along the road here with great views of forested hills. Ironbridge is just below. Around to the left up along the valley is Lug.

Trailhead at Aghavannagh bridge with fantastic running options. Lug south prison on the horizon. here

High point on road section under Croaghanmoira has great 360 views of Wicklow here

Sandymount Beach in Dublin

i incorporate Sandymount beach into most of my LSR's - love running from Sandyford into Ballsbridge, then out by Sandymount all the way to Sandycove and back home.

did it this morning and it was like the middle of summer.
