any of this stuff any good...i.e. will you be throwing it away after the first nigly itch from some part of the gear

It's actually not too bad - socks, T-shirts and tights are decent for what you're paying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,704 ✭✭✭✭RayCun

The socks are good, and you can't go wrong with the hats and reflective vest at that price.
Wouldn't touch the shoes, don't wear jackets, and don't know what the trousers are like. Are they tights? Or are they trousers? I can't imagine trousers would be comfortable...

Generally tights for both genders, and capris for women too.

Decathlon is great for good cheap gear...Kalenji is their home brand

Their tights/trousers are actually a bit on the loose side, which is good imo. Also, the socks are very good. I do most of my running with them. The rest of the gear is fine as well - except the shoes, I haven't tried them. Shoes would be a bridge too far I think. :)

Any chance that any of this stuff will still be in their shops on Saturday morning? I have a Lidl near me, I guess I could scoot down on Monday evening after work though...

    It usually goes pretty fast

Yea last time it was on sale on a Thursday, and by Thursday after work it was all totally gone in two shops I went into [even one lidl which is huge and always has huge amounts of stock].

This time I will send my mum or my sister in to get my stuff at the crack of dawn :)

I have the trousers from Lidl last year. Not quite tights, slightly looser than that, but good quality and comfy.

As was said before, the popular stuff is gone by lunchtime.

Balls. Sounds like I'm going to have to be there on the dot of 8am as it doesn't seem like there will be anything left after 4pm.

It depends on the shop too - one shop might sell out quick but the next one over will still have stuff in the evening.

yea I live in the middle of town - so all the shops are busy

if your in middle of nowhere you may be ok :)

is it my imagination or didn't lidl just have running gear specials on about 2/3 weeks ago?......is so, its strange its coming up again

No one I know actually got any of the stuff a few weeks ago, sold out in seconds..

So they clearly under estimated demand, so I hope they will have arse loads of it this time :)

Yes, but they didn;t have winter gear like long trousers and thermals then.
    This is the "Winter collection".

I actually wore my Lidl T-shirt for the Berlin Marathon, so I can't say anything negative about their gear.

I only use their socks for shorter runs though. I find they bunch a bit on the longer runs, but maybe that's just my feet?

    Snap!

Just noticed the shop closest to me opens at 8am so think I'll cycle out there before work on Monday with a backpack and see what I can get, some of the Winter gear would be very useful as I'll probably avoid the threadmill as much as possible this time round for my second Winter of running.

There's a Lidl close to me and I have the feeling it might not sell out straight away. However I guess the only problem with being there for 8am is, will they actually have the stuff on the shelves then?!

Hi all. Haven't seen a thread on this. Spotted some Jackets, reflective vests, socks, hats and skins in the lidl mag free with the Sunday papers earlier. On sale first thing in the morning.

Also due to my successful weight loss Im getting large in everything. I really [REALLY] could not tell you the last time I bought a large anything, its been XXL and before and after that XL for the longest time. Woot!

Fair Play to ya! - I was in the same situation over the last year. It was always XL everything. Then I got down to L... these days it's size M in most things... The Lidl stuff is great for when you've to re-stock your running gear in a smaller size as it's so cheap!

Asked my ma to call into Lidl today up home. Hopefully she will have some luck.

I too am hoping to soon be going down a clothes size. T-shirts I find I've had to start buying XXL even though XL always used to fit me and I'm not really any heavier than I ever was.

I've just over a stone and a half gone so it will be interesting to see if the L size running bottoms fit me.

Just back from Lidl. There isn't a huge amount of stock in Dundrum.

The tops are lovely but the colour of the womens one is a bit dodgy. They are described in the Lidl brochure as running underwear, but they are good quality tight tops.
The trousers look good. They are as tight as running tights at the top, but a bit flared at the ankles.

I was in one before work this morning and now know why the running gear goes so quickly, at 8.10 there were people carrying away armfuls of the stuff (presumably buying for more than just themselves)! I felt positively frugal only buying one of the Winter tops, a hat and a few pairs of socks :)

Just back from Lidl in Ashbourne,, Shop is still full of all the stock with all sizes catered for.. Got a few pairs of socks and top..The socks in my oponion are the best they've ever stocked.. Going out 2 to test them out..

Popped into Lidl in Oranmore this morning (9:30) and there was only 2 pairs of ladies running trousers left - had my size, happy days, got home, tried on and there a good 2 inches too short. Got the jacket too and its too short in the arms. Im disgusted cos I would have been quite pleased with them otherwise. Off now to return them now :(

I was in Lidli in Kilkenny, good selection of stuff still left
All I wanted was the reflective vest for 5e, a little big in the L/ XL size but more suitable then what I have :)

Reasonable selection left in Wicklow about an hour ago - picked some base layer stuff - seems comfy enough.

just got a few pairs of the socks, didnt like the look of the rest

will give them their first go in the morning

I bought a couple of pairs of socks a few weeks ago in Lidl. I wore them once but never again. They are made of some nylon type material and they make your feet sweat at an incredible rate. Very uncomfortable

Are they the one's that are gray and blue and have right and left written on them? If so I have to say I've found them very comfortable and even wore them for half marathon in Dublin without a bother :)

Not bad for about 3e :)

Wore them this morning. Seem to have quite a lot of padding in the sole, they're comfy enough.

I bought a few pairs the last time they were out. I had been suffering with blisters and thought my shoes were on the way out. Haven't had a bother since using these.

Only prob this time is my local Lidl only have sizes up to 8. Curse my big feet....:)

I was in Lidl on Pottery Rd. (Dun Laoghaire) at closing time yesterday and they had lots of socks, accessories, and mens clothes/baselayers left. They had limited ladies base layers, no trousers, and jackets only in the bigger sizes.

I got a few socks and a reflective vest. I had really gone for the tights as the pair of capris I have are my favourite, so that was disappointing.

Got my mother to get some stuff from Lidl up home but decided to call into my local one down here to pick up a hi-vis vest. I was looking around and found one then a few seconds later, the electricity went out at the store.

So they said they couldn't sell us anything and I had to leave.

I knew you had to be quick to buy stuff in Lidl, but I didn't think you had to be that quick.

Anytime I go to Lidl or Aldi to get some of their running gear, it is always sold out.
