    Hi there,

    On my other windows XP computer just got this message:

    STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
    The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x0000000)
    The system has been shutdown.

    After a quick google it seems to be a problem with Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe failing.

    It will not allow me to boot in safe mode, last configuration date or any other mode on the boot mode.

    My brother was thinking of a complete XP reinstall but we have no CD(must have been saved to hard-drive?) and we are unsure what to do now!!

    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks!

    Looks like youve been trying to change your logon style or background and it failed.

    Download a copy of windows xp off a torrent site and use the legit code on the outside your computer. No harm in that at all.
    Thanks for the reply.
    I made changes to the startup and services on msconfig.exe so I assume thats what I did wrong.

    What about driver devices though??I don't have a clue what drivers we had at all or is justas simple as getting the cd and reinstalling?

    unless you can somehow get to system restore that will solve it. Yeah if you download it and simply install it it will work fine after you put your product key in. Although, reluctantly, i'd say you should download a program called driver fetch to install drivers afterwards.

    Personally I'd be wary of just sourcing a Windows installation image from a torrent site. How do you tell the difference between the ones that have been tampered with and the ones that haven't? Oh, that's right, you can't.

    Ask for a lend of an installation CD from a friend. You don't actually need to reinstall just yet - you want to boot into the recovery console and run chkdsk to fix any errors on your partition first. After that, try booting again.

    If it still doesn't want to play, then you should probably look at a repair install. You'll need to source drivers for your hardware, which may or may not be fun depending on how old your computer is and who manufactured it.

    Another solution worth considering is to just buy a legit copy of Windows 7 (assuming your hardware will support it) and upgrade now.
