    Are you a lurker?
Do you browse boards.ie while unlogged?
Well I do the same over on askaboutmoney.com, read it every day but less then 150 posts in 5 years

I've just been to personal issues forum just now where I hand out great advice  (Be aware that quoting a post from that forum and putting it in AH is not cool)
But 9 posters and 55 lurkers viewing?

Come on, are you a lurker?

I can't lurk. I've tried it before but then something annoys the hell out of me or I find a question I can answer and I have to log in!

    turn around

Every now and then I get a little bit lonely
    turn around

Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound
    of my tears
    turn around

    ...and so on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Revolution9

Lurked on this site for a couple of weeks, then got bored and signed up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,572 ✭✭✭✭brummytom

I don't lurk on here, I waffle on on most threads.

I only really lurk on thesession.org and digitalspy

In the sense that I've a low post count given how long I've been on here, I suppose I count as a lurker. Some people have way too much to say.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,739 ✭✭✭✭starbelgrade

Lurking sounds slightly perverse. I might try it sometime.

I was for a while, while I tried to figure out what exactly AH was about... then I realized it was impossible to do that, so I just started posting.

Now I can't lurk because I always see posts that I want to talk / ask questions about.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 117 ✭✭LaughOrDie

I lurk all the time cos i dont log in in work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 428 ✭✭[Rasta]

I lurked for 2 years here(something like that.. just popped on once in a while), just recently decided to give it a shot at posting.
I'd say posting is fun, but lurking is just strangely satisfying sometimes haha :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Mrmoe

    Stalking is more fun:pac:

Ah jayzus, what did you do that for?
That's like sending a 7stone frail individual out onto the gladiator colosseum in Rome a couple of thousand years ago!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,986 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

Completely lost with with that post  ^^^^

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,886 ✭✭✭Darlughda

My post? Its clear. Quoting from PI to AH not going to have happy outcome?

Ok, get it now but it certainly wasn't clear

Sort of. I don't think I've much to contribute most of the time. Trying to get into the swing of things around here!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 250 ✭✭Delicate_Dlite

I lurked from 2006, joined this year. I lurk daily, probably post weekly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Layzehfoo

    I'm a lurker.

I would have started posting, but I made the mistake of starting posting on a Commuting & Transport railway thread.

It's nasty in there, I won't post again.

Don't let that stop you, neither do most of the people in AHs.

I probably am a lurker, 840 posts in 3 1/2 years: there's people signed up since yesterday with more posts.

I tend not to lurk on my regular forum (TCN) except maybe about 30 mins before I log on, just to get up to speed. It feels like spying otherwise - silly I know, it's on the WWW ffs. But sometimes I can't help it and get really nosey. :pac: Elsewhere it's Lurksville all the way, unless I have something to say.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44 Izzy711

    I lurk a lot.

I only put my 2 cents in if it something I can actually contribute to. A lot of times people have already made a comment similar to the one I would have made.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 485 ✭✭Elenxor

It's only a sin if you take pleasure in it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,038 ✭✭✭sponsoredwalk

I've been lurking to this thread all night...

I'm definitely a lurker - I probably spend about 2-3 hours on boards every day yet I rarely post.

I actually start writing replies sometimes then think "nah, that's exactly the same point someone else made, no point cluttering up the thread with the same info over and over again".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭Sea Sharp

I usually lurk in the other sections of boards because for the majority of threads I have nothing to contribute. Except in AH, you don't need to think for AH.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭Scuid Mhór

    lurking is boring.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 902 ✭✭✭DoneDL

I don't think people lurk in the over the shoulder sense, perhaps like me the just enjoy the posts and wait for inspiration.

Look at all the guests boards.ie has. Most lurk without posting at all

Well I lurk a lot on Askaboutmoney too mainly because I'm afraid of getting a ban. :)

Post a fair bit here now and again. Depends on me mood.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 701 ✭✭✭sickle

been lurking for years, rarely have a need to post.
    I'll go log out now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,013 ✭✭✭Scarydoll

Sometimes I like to lurk and sometimes I don't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,797 ✭✭✭ChopShop

Do you browse boards.ie while unlogged?

I'm doing that right at this very moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,639 ✭✭✭Sugar Free

Kind of a lurker in that my old account had an average post count of over 1 a day, most of which would of been on AH I reckon.

Been a lurker for a while, especially on AH. As you can see by my low number of posts just signed up recently:cool:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,740 ✭✭✭Asphyxia

I usually browse for awhile and when I see a thread I want to post in then I will log in. I do browse a lot though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,231 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

I sometimes hide in the bushes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 355 ✭✭Princess Zelda

As others have said, I generally lurk and then post when I have something worth posting. Hope this applies

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 175 ✭✭icywind1980

I only post when I really have something to say, but I am always logged in and reading. Gives me something to talk about to my friends over drinks. "hey did you see that post on boards.."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Revolution9

This is the only forum I'm signed up to. I lurk on 2 or 3 others. Lurked here for a few months prior to signing up just 3 weeks ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

Oh so lurking on the web is ok but lurking in real life makes me a weirdo!?

    Wha!?

Interestingly Wikipedia has this to say
Research indicates that "lurkers make up over 90% of online groups"
