Weight Fluctuations

Sorry if the answer to this is blindingly obvious or something but this is starting to get on my nerves so I thought I'd ask.

I'll keep it simple. I exercise 5-6 days a week and maintain a healthy diet. I haven't changed my diet and exercise or introduced anything weird or wild.

However, over the last month(ish) my weight has begun to fluctuate wildly. I weigh myself once a week (first thing in the morning) and a few weeks back it was up 6lbs. I knew that was rubbish so I began to monitor my weight on a more regular basis.

Basically now its all over the place. For the record I want to maintain it at 161lbs.

A quick example. The last 3 days it has been
    Thurs: 168 lbs
    Fri: 160.5 lbs
    Sat: 165 lbs

I have a pain in my nuts with this. If my weight has gone up half a stone then I'll work to shift the weight. However, a) there is no reason it should have and b) I have no reason if it has because it literally won't stay anywhere near the same.

158-170 is the range its constantly bonucing around. Thats almost a stone. Any advice or input would be greatly welcomed.

    Take measurements.

If your clothes are not tighter then dont worry. Between this morning and tonight the scales has put me up 1/2 a stone. I of course didnt gain 1/s a stone - it was down to the liquids and food in my stomach and my hydration.

If you drink a litre of water, thats 2 pounds.
Trying weighing your dinner, theres another 2 pounds or so.

I'm not going to suggest that you take a dump on the weighing scales, but you can imagine.
    Your weight flucuates naturally.

If the scale is digital then low/high batteries can give different readings.
If it is not on a level surface or gets moved at all it can change.
If you stand on it in different areas you can get varied readings.
If you jump on one day or step on slowly it can be different.

Then already mentioned hydration, clothes etc.

If you something near your own weight you could rule out some things, e.g. if I stuck 80kg of weights on my scale and it varied each day I would know the scale is dodgy.

This is pretty normal, though it's worth weighing yourself on a different scale now and then in case it is a dodgy one.

I try to keep all things equal when I weigh myself. Just after waking, in boxers and after peeing. My weight can still fluctuate up to 3.5kg (8lbs) from min to max depending on hydration... If I'm hungover it's usually way down, I down a few pints of water and that's two kilos (5lbs). It's normal.

If you want your real weight, take it everyday over a week and then work out your average. That's your weight for that week...

I've a little graphing app on my phone that averages the ridiculous squiggly line to a nice smooth average one.

OP i'd be the same, the GF has a digital scales and i can weigh myself in the morning and in the evening and i could be +- 7 pounds. Also my favourite .. weighing yourself before and after a hefty number 2 (which in all seriousness could be having an impact).

Weigh yourself a few times and take note of the most common reading. Sometimes the first reading can be off for some reason.
