The tournament will be held in the XCG in Dublin on the 9th of October and the entry to the tournament will, again, be free. However, casual play will still require a pay in of the standard €5. For those only attending for the tournament and not the casual play, a lower rate may be allowed on the day, as we will still need to cover rental costs.
Tournament registration will open at 12:00 in the centre, and will close at tournament start (1:30). Casual play after wards will run as long as people are happy to play, before and after the tournament.
People who arrive after the tournament starts are not guaranteed a place in the tournament but we will try to accommodate them if possible.


Tournament Rules and Format.

Format is as follows; Group rounds followed by a double elimination tournament. Each match will consist of 3 games with each game beings best of 3 rounds. The third game of a match in the group stages will only be played in the event of a tie after the second set. If one player wins the first 2 games the third game is not played. For the winners and grand final, the matches will be best of 5 (losers final will still be best of 3).

1. All characters are selectable. This includes available DLC characters from the American PSN.

2. Custom controllers and button configuration is allowed.

3. Turbo is banned. Anyone who is caught using this feature will be disqualified.

4. Players can change characters in each round of the double elimination phase. However once a match has started they may only change characters in a match after loosing a set. The winner of the first set must stick to his character he started the set with and may only change if he looses the second set, in which case the winner of the second set must then stick to the character he used in the second set.

5. Double Blind select available in the event of people being concerned about counter picking. An admin will assist with this if required.

6. Rock, paper, scissors is used in the event of people being unable to agree on which side they want to sit on.

7. In the event of a player pausing a game during a round or his stick/pad fails during a round, he forfeits the round unless both players agree to carry on. If there is a dispute an admin will resolve the dispute.

8. In the event of a game ending in a draw, the game will scrapped and not counted towards the results. It will then be replayed. (Though it will be pretty damn hype.)

9. Players who are overly disruptive during a competition or who are distracting other players can be removed from the tournament at the discretion of the tournament admins.

10. No white track suits please.

11. All glory to the hype dog.

Depending on numbers, the seeding will be different; the top 4 will be split, and all others will be split at random in order of placement (ie; both 7s will be placed with the 1st and 2nd and the 5s will be with the 3rd and 4th. In case of ~16 people, no seeds past the 4th will be implemented.)

Depending again on numbers, we will try to have everyone in the double elimination section of the tournament again.

Quick question about the grand finals - is it just a single best out of 5 match, or will the player coming from the lower bracket need to win two of these (to account for the fact that the player from upper bracket hasn't lost a match yet)?

I don't think it's too presumptious for me to say that loser will have to win twice. It's the way we always do it.

I have mentioned this to vyze and inferis, they seem up for it but we are kinda limited on high-level players. There are only 3 of us who have been to svb and brushed knuckles with the rest of the uk and europe. Outside us 3 there are (from most experienced to least) : Yreval, Scavenger, Zero, Cloudpaul (doesnt like the game). (i think there are probably more people but these are the only ones i can think of atm).

Of course, I'm also slightly glossing over the fact that I remember you guys saying Jervy was from up north as well, so that's a 4person team already we just need a fifth man and we are good to take you guys on XD rawr!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves

This is amazing that the BB is kicking off now, my lack of a PS3 for training mode has been killing me slowly lately, but I still think I'll be in good shape for the next tourney. Apart from Voa and Joe the rest of us are not too experienced at the game (afaik), but I'm definitely willing to change that. I think if we really concentrate our resources etc we can become a v good, small and concentrated community of good players. I'm willing to give my 100% and I know a lot others are too ^^

As far as the Northern scene goes, I don't know you guys very well, personally or game related xD (and hopefully in the future that changes) I do know you guys did go to SVB and put us on the map (foreign representation for Ireland now consisting of SFIV, 3rd Strike and BB is very good), which is awesome. As we know we are no slouch as a country!

I really need to learn some matchups though ;_; having no ps3 means I'm screwed there. But the key is for everyone to give it there 120% effort and be the best they can be as a country, we got all the resources and players, let's show them BB is no exception ^_^

(yeah thats how quick you picked up the game O.o) yeah from the looks of things the north does have some strong players.(but then again Gory really picked up the game rather quick and red execution is o.O) >.< that you don't have a ps3 ramza.

Lil ill and lil college heavy at the moment, I haven't even had a chance to touch the game in about a full week at this point and you guys are all 10k combos and corner loops.
And I'm waiting on parts to make my stick bloody usable again...

To be fair though vyze, our groups were pretty harsh. i mean, me and inferis had teruta in ours and tamriel just came out of the blue for us. i cant remember your group well but i think yours had some good players in there too. Just playing in svb lvled me up massively in those opening hours.

I think we are starting to have a decent coverage of characters so far up north:
tao/makoto (tertiary in Noel/Mu) (tsuki),
haku/Ragna/Valk (inferis),
lamda/ragna/tsubaki (trolls rachel&hazama too) (vyze),
tager (yreval),
Mu/Noel (scavenger),
Jin (zero)
Ragna (paul)
Bang/Ragna (Jervy).

Since we also don't have a larger range of players up here for BB, choosing lots of secondary and tertiary characters gives us some matchup experience and something to fall back on as needed^^

we are all still learning the game as best as we can, both south and north, playing other people when we can. Me, vyze, inferis, yreval and scavenger play each other on a weekly basis (sometimes twice a week for me and vyze), so that helps. The game will be released in europe soon, isnt it? We should see a greater influx of players after that XD
